Yes that is an acupuncture needle, piercing through a point called Bai Hui / Du Mai - 20.
One of my aunt was having somekind of energy treatment by so called "health device", and somehow that device caused energy blockage and thus making her deprived of energy progressively.
She came as the last guest at my house for Eid Al Fitr gathering and that's when i noticed she was as pale as a living zombie and her eyes were dim.

I learned from them many many years ago and now currently learning acupuncture for certification from one health institute in Chengdu, China, for international standardization and recognition.
