In the 19 century Jersey decided to build a breakwater stretching out 1.6km on the eastern French side, to create a defensive harbour. After many years of construction and £££s it was completed, then some bright spark decided to check the depth of the water and realised it was too shallow for mooring boats!!! Still it makes a nice walk on a sunny day 😄
