The start of a very special day. How's that for a Good Omen?

The wedding day of one of my sons.

And Hundredth Birthday of my father (d. 1972)

This was quite subdued light at 5 a.m. I probably won't be able to resist doing one with more contrast and drama. Obviously I took a bunch.

The Jersey Tiger moth (Euplagia quadripunctaria) hit the news recently arriving to England shores in unusually large numbers. A common moth in Europe, it was most frequently seen in the Channel Isles, hence its common British name, reaching English shores infrequently in the past. With climate change and global warming, it is spreading North settling in the British Isles too with record sightings this year. Now it reached Bath too... to my delight.

This fine specimen resting on a rubbish bin was first spotted by my wife in the morning who then alerted me with the news. It was drizzling outside, and the moth was not in a hurry to fly away and was very happy posing for few shots. Bath, BANES, England, UK

Thank you for your visit, favours and comments, much appreciated.

A pre-dawn glow at Bouley Bay, Jersey in the Channel Islands. I sat on this pebbley shingle shore awaiting the sun all alone and it was perfectly still. I can smell that lovely salty freshness as I look at this shot, it takes me back to the "alive and free" feeling you have in better days!

I was quite surprised to see this guy doing his dance-walk routine and he didn't seem to mind me being nearby.

I was on Jersey for a wedding, staying in a hotel with this as my view (to wake me up), and I just had my little compact Ricoh with me. After taking a few shots through the window, I wanted to get a shot without the hotel furniture in the foreground . So I climbed out of the window (just), took some photos (unfortunately with the sunbeams gone), and looked for a way back into the hotel at a little after 5 o'clock..

When I failed to find an entry, I tried to climb back through my window -- at my age -- no fool like an old fool -- etc etc. I survived......

I wish I was better at post processing. I feel there is a really good photo there somewhere. If I work it out, I'll replace it. I love the way the palm echoes the sunbeams.

Some Turkish Orange Eggplant at the (not so) local Farm Stand. They look like striped tomatoes, but the sign says they are Eggplant. I think they are going to make for some fun pics later today! lol. They are already starting to shrivel up. Hello Sliders Sunday. Maybe. :-)

A beautiful autumn vista, seen from a lookout point above Interstate 80 near Allamuchy, New Jersey, about 35 miles northwest from Newark.

See other images shot from here in my "USA outdoors" album.
