Bamboo forest of the road is a path with a taste that lasts for about 200 meters between the Nomiya Shrine from Okochi Sanso. In the vicinity, there is such as Tenryu-ji of World Heritage and Arashiyama, is one of the typical attractions of Kyoto Arashiyama, is a tourist spot that you would like you to come stopped in when it came to Arashiyama. Every year in December, was held “Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatoro”, and you can walk in the light-up has been fantastic bamboo forest. After exploring fully the great garden of the Tenryu-ji, and out of the north gate, it is recommended that is to walk the road of bamboo forest toward the Nomiya shrines and Okochi Sanso. It should be noted that, on the road of bamboo forest does not have a parking lot. When you are coming by car, it is recommended that is using the parking and the Tenryu-ji coin parking in the vicinity of the peripheral Togetsukyo.

My Most Popular Images from 2012

I have never done one of these before but thought I would give it ago and reflect back on 2012. These are my most interesting images (according to Flickr) from 2012 and all of them are taken in London and mostly on the Tube, which is no surprise there :-).

I would just like to take the time to thank all of those who visit and comment on my work regularly. It really does help me alot to improve my photography and my techniques. I feel compared to previous years I am a little bit more planned in the way I do photography which I feel has vastly helped. I have also achieved more than I previously thought compared to this time last year, I have got a couple of images published in a magazine, now a Getty contributor and only recently got round to setting up my own website

“You will not teach anything if those who listen to you do not perceive your emotion in doing so.”

STEFANO CHIACCHIARINI

…I was looking for an aphorism on emotions, I came across this, I think it can also fit well with photography, because the photographic story that I am about to present here, on Flickr, led me to experience intense emotions while I was taking my photographs , I took photos yes, but at the same time I had to make a strong effort to repress those emotions, because they were so intense that I risked being overwhelmed by them… thus risking losing concentration on what was materializing before my eyes…. The party I attended, thus realizing this photographic series, was held at the beginning of May in the town of Melilli, which celebrates its patron saint San Sebastiano, in reality the canonical feast is held on January 20 also in Melilli, however this town in the province of Syracuse, in early May a "Big Feast" is organized to commemorate an event that seems to originate now from a historical event (it would be reported on an ancient correspondence), now from a story that has the flavor of legend : the story tells that in April 1414 a ship coming from the Adriatic Sea was wrecked on an island near the coast, there were no deaths, and the event, considered miraculous, was attributed to the presence on the ship of a statue of San Sebastiano, which was kept inside a chest, a chest that became heavily immovable by anyone who tried to lift it, the story (or legend) has it that the chest containing San Sebastiano became light only when some inhabitants of Melilli tried to lift it, a sign that the Saint wanted to be brought to that country, and so San Sebastiano was satisfied. Talking about the feast of San Sebastiano di Melilli also means talking about the so-called "nuri", a Sicilian dialect word which indicates those who "naked" come on foot (even barefoot) from numerous towns in the surrounding area, even very distant countries: in reality the custom of walking "naked" covered only by a band in correspondence with the pubic area belongs to the past, when "naked" were only male, later with the participation also of the female, the "naked" ” they have covered themselves, wearing white clothes, including a bandana, with red bands tightened around the waist and trunk, so they come on foot, even barefoot, wearing or not wearing white socks; the children cannot be missing, and since for them the journey on foot is unthinkable, the parents take turns carrying their little ones on their shoulders, even very small ones (we are talking about distances to be covered on foot of even 40 or 50 km!; the “ nuri" arrive in groups, and if all the groups, who are expected according to a precise programme, do not arrive beforehand, the procession with San Sebastiano does not begin; the "nuri (or naked)" bring with them bundles of fresh flowers, the “nuri” from Solarino bring handcrafted paper flowers with them, because due to the distance they have to cover, often under a sun in early May which can be very hot, the fresh flowers would arrive completely ruined. inside the church, they approach the float on which there is the statue of the Saint, a beautiful statue whose face is extremely sweet, not large in size, it appears covered with gold and precious objects: one witnesses a unique ritual of its kind, the devotees ask the staff present on the float to bring their objects closer to the Saint, in this way these objects are considered so blessed (I photographed a very kind and nice gentleman who explained this custom to me, he himself he had a “Sicilian puppet” blessed!). When all the various groups of "nuri" have arrived, then the procession begins, which will carry the statue of San Sebastiano to another church, from which in the late afternoon it will leave for a new procession inside the town of Melilli, to then return to the "his" church.

You ever have a location that you want to keep a secret, well here is that location for me. I mean, it's not hard to find out where this is located if you have luck on your side, as it seemed with us, but still there is that inner conflict of "where do I say this beautiful waterfall is?".

I will not be doing that though, this is Mystic Falls in Ames, Colorado. Although difficult to see, once you locate the falls from the dirt road leading into Ames, it is pretty easy to bushwack into. Yes, bushwack. There is no clearly defined trail to this waterfall, in fact bring your Chacos because you will be walking up the creek during parts of the 1/8 mile walk from the "parking lot" next to someone's house. You will have to trespass, as you will be walking through someone's property. I don't think anyone was around when we walked through, but if that is an issue, I would advise to not go looking for this waterfall. Mystic Falls is a spectacular sight though, as this canyon is really narrow, and I'm estimating the height of the falls to be around 100ft. Amazing sight! Good luck!

Bajar a esos lagos....

Roque de Agando is a prominent rock formation on the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands. It is one of La Gomera's most striking features and is frequently used as a symbol for the island.

Roque Agando is the most prominent of a group of four volcanic plugs called simply Los Roques, near the centre of the island. The others are named Roque Carmona, Roque Ojila, and Roque Zarcita. It rises directly above the main road between the island's capital San Sebastián and Garajonay National Park in the centre, which makes it a popular tourist sight.

The summit is not accessible by foot. During the 20th century, some easy rock-climbing routes were established on the peak, but climbing is now banned there, and hiking is restricted to established paths in its vicinity, as it forms part of a protected area.

Remains of aboriginal Guanche sacrificial shrines have been found on the summit. These were in good condition until the 1980s, when they were looted by a German group making a documentary film.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

General view from the entry stairs of the Temple of Anahita in the ancient city of Bishapur from the 2nd century AD. Not to be confused with the Temple of Anahita in Kangavar, near Kermanshah, this temple complex is in near perfect condition because it was constructed several meters below the 'ground level' of Bishapur, and thus was completely covered by soil over the ages. The complex was only excavated in 1940 by French Archaeologist Roman Ghirshman, who was also responsible for the excavation of the Chogha Zanbil Ziggurat .

Anahita is the Zoroastrian goddess of water and fertility, and accordingly, unlike the better known Zoroastrain fire temples, this is a water temple. The small openings on each side of the square under the doorways are water outlets, and allowed the central area of the square to be flooded with water coming from the Shapur River. The doorways give acces to the underground hallway that runs around the square, matching the layout of Bishapur's Central Hall.

The triangle shaped wall might suggest a lost roof, but the temple centre court was in fact open. Two Achaemenid inspired Bull Capitals graced to top of the wall.

To light the wall of the hallway inside to doorway in the background, I used the remote flash inside the rear door. Given the distance and the strong ambient light versus the tiny built-in flash, it took several tries to get the remote flash to fire. I placed thew flas on the left side to try to shade it from the sun rays, but it only worked when a cloud passed... The same cloud also helped lower the heavy shadows on the courtyard. Technology helps, but luck helps even more!

Pere Jou i Francisco (Gracia, Barcelona, November 3 of 1891 - Sitges, April 19 of 1964) was an sculptor very tie to Sitges.

At 25 years old he knew Utrillo painter, who looked for a sculptor for the Palau Maricel that the American millionaire Charles Deering was constructing in Sitges. From 1916 to 1920, Jou carved fiftieth of capitals and other smaller works, for doors and windows, with images extracted of famous fables (of La Fontaine, Iriarte and Samaniego), or contemporary celebrities and events, or with allegorical character; many of the faces of these figures are of his workmates in the construction of the Maricel or of citizens of the city.
