Ubicada en el corazón de la montaña leonesa, junto a otro lugar de gran belleza, las Hoces de Vagacervera; hablamos de la cueva más joven de Castilla y León, sólo tiene un millón de años, naciendo cuando en el pleistoceno, las frías aguas del arroyo Valporquero se colaban silenciosas entre la piedra caliza, creando en su caída las maravilla que podemos visitar.

En su interior podemos contemplar coladas, columnas, estalactitas y estalagmitas, mostrándose en las siete salas en las que se organiza, ante el visitante. Algunas de sus maravillas gozan ya de nombre propio en su interior: Gran Rotada, Hadas, Gran Vía, Cementerio Estalactítico y Columna Solitaria, nombres inspirados en la imaginación de quien las contempla, formaciones caprichosas como El fantasma, La Virgen con el Niño, Las Gemelas o la Torre de Pisa..

Es haben sich in der Höhle mehr als 8000 Buddhastatuen angesammelt. Die ältesten stammen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, und neue Votivgaben kommen bis heute hinzu. Wissenschaftler drängen auf die Aufnahme der Stätte in die UNESCO-Liste des Weltkulturerbes.

Die Kalkstein-Höhlen befinden sich in einem Höhenzug bei der Stadt Pindaya. Auf dem in Nord-Süd-Richtung verlaufenden Grat befinden sich drei Höhlen, aber nur die südliche Höhle kann betreten und erforscht werden. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob die beiden anderen über eine längere Strecke in den Hang eindringen. Die Höhlen sind über einen gedeckten Treppenaufgang zugänglich. Ausgehend von der geräumigen Eingangshalle führt ein Netz von Gängen tief in den Berg. Die Wände der kleinen Hallen und der Gänge sind bedeckt mit meistens vergoldeten Buddhastatuen aus verschiedenen Materialien und in unterschiedlichen Größen.

The Pindaya Caves are a Buddhist pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction located on a limestone ridge in the Myelat region. The area is part of the ancestral homeland of the Danu people. There are three caves on the ridge which runs north-south, but only the southern cave can be entered and explored. It is not known whether the other two penetrate for any extended distance into the hillside. Scholars have been pushing for the site's inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Jaisalmer, nicknamed "The Golden city", is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 575 kilometres west of the state capital Jaipur. It was once known as Jaisalmer state.

Jaisalmer is named after its founder Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king in 1156 AD. "Jaisalmer" means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". Jaisalmer is sometimes called the "Golden City of India" because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area.

The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples are finely sculptured. It lies in the heart of the Thar Desert (great Indian desert) and has a population of about 78,000. It is the administrative headquarters of Jaisalmer District.

One from awhile back of a sunrise looking out from the Terrigal rock shelves. I find that colour combo of the orange reflected light from the sun and the green of the weed on the rocks appealing. It reminds me of that old saying “Nature's wake-up call: When the sun rises, even the weeds show off their green glamour” Don’t feel confused if you haven’t heard it before, when I say “Old saying” I mean it’s about 2 hours since I made it up 😜

Enjoy what’s left of the weekend wherever you are! There is 15 minutes left here. And the days start getting longer now , yeeessss!

I took this a year ago on a very cold, foggy morning in Golden Ears Park. I don't see crepuscular rays like this often, and was totally in awe, as the sun shone through the fog.
