This is my always supportive wife, our ever faithful dog and me.

It's been grey all day. Then suddenly it cleared up and despite the wind (the haze in the right side is actually sand being blown) we braved the beach. Having waited patiently whilst I took pictures of the waves breaking on long exposures I decided to get one last shot as we left. This really was a one time only deal as for various reasons we had to get back.....

I couldn't work out whether to edit this or not so other than a couple of minor tweaks, it's as it was taken. I'd welcome ideas though.

This photo was entered into Explore and had a highest placing of 319.

Duluth is about 70 miles from Ashland, and is the closest larger city to us. We are up there at least several times a month, shopping, movies, my haircuts ( tee-hee ). It is under this bridge that all the large freighters from around the world pass to and from the Great Lakes. Duluth also has the nearest Trauma Center, two large hospitals, Day Surgery Centers and a large Burn Center. It is also the center for entertainment in the area. It is 2 hours from The Twin Cities.

The I-535 High Bridge opened to traffic on December 2, 1961, replacing the Interstate Bridge, connecting Wisconsin and Minnesota. At just shy of 8,000 feet, this was the longest bridge in Minnesota when it opened. If you include the overland approaches, the overall bridge length is 10,775 feet. The bridge has since been renamed after John A. Blatnik, a champion of the High Bridge project. In the background on the right are grain elevators.

ANTES DE NADA QUIERO AGRADECER EN NOMBRE DE ALEJANDRO Y EL MIO, A CADA UNO DE LOS QUE OS HABEIS DESPLAZADO HASTA PILOÑA A LA QDD LA ASISTENCIA YA QUE SIN VOSOTROS ESTA NO SERIA UNA REALIDAD QUE AÑO TRAS AÑO SIGUE CELEBRANDOSE Y AUMENTANDO EN Nº DE AMIGOS (A la comida 67, en total 82)Y DIGO AMIGOS PORQUE ESO ES LO QUE SE VIO DURANTE TODO EL DIA UNA REUNION DE AMIGOS AFICIONADOS A LA FOTOGRAFIA .

GRACIAS AMIGOS

MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS

Ranking among the most important caves in the world, the Škocjan Caves represent the most significant underground phenomena in both the Karst region and Slovenia. Due to their exceptional significance, the Škocjan Caves were entered on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites in 1986. International scientific circles have thus acknowledged the importance of the Caves as one of the natural treasures of planet Earth. From time immemorial, people have been attracted to the gorge where the Reka River disappears underground as well as the mysterious cave entrances. The Reka River sinks under a rocky wall; on the top of it lies the village of Škocjan after which the Caves are named. Archaeological research has shown that people lived in the caves and the surrounding area in prehistoric times – from the Mesolithic, the Neolithic, the Bronze and Iron Ages through Antiquity and the Middle Ages to the present; altogether for more than 5,000 years. The Škocjan Caves have a highly multi-branched system of cave passages totalling 6.2 kilometres. The Caves have 11 speleological structures that are interconnected by means of the Reka River or collapse dolines. The shifting of the sinkholes in contact with the underground caves caused the formation of numerous collapsed dolines. The sinkhole fascinate every visitor with their depth of 163 meters as well as great floral and faunal diversity. The best view of both sinkholes, with their natural bridge and the cave that separate them, is from Miklov skedenj, named after the local explorer Franc Cerkvenik.

In Slovenia we visit the amazing Škocjan Caves. Here the Reka River creates a waterfall in the Velika dolina before plunging in the amazing deep underground canyon of the Skocjan Caves. It will emerge again after 38km in italian grounds with the name of Timavo river flowing after 2km into the Adriatic sea. Rare cave fauna are preserved in the underground system of the Reka River. The cave was formed by the disappearing Reka River that gathers most of its waters on the impermeable flysch rock. Following heavy rains, the Reka River floods in the cave, usually reaching levels up to 30 metres; the highest recorded rise in the water level was 132 metres. Falling water in the Karst sinks and drains underground through fissures. The caves are formed in this way; on the surface this occurs in different karst depressions of various sizes. The most frequent karst depressions are sinkholes. .

After a short break from Flickr, here is another shot from the street shopping in Siem Reap. Being a Buddhist nation, you will find all sorts of Buddha painting and artifacts in the market.

I love using my 50mm f1.8 when I go on the street because it gives me a lot of interesting opportunities like this but of course to do the entire range of street captures you need to be really equipped with many different lenses and I'm still in the infant stages when it comes to that. Hopefully some day I will have all the equipment that I desire.

Enjoy your Sunday, my friends. Thanks for your visit!

Set on a hill 130 meters high, the area of Montmartre looks grandly out over all of Paris. The name "Montmartre" comes from "Mont des Martyrs" (the bishop St. Denis, the priest Rustique, and the archdeacon Eleuthère were all decapitated there around the year 250). In the 12th century, Benedictine monks built a monastery near Rue des Abesses. It later became the seat of a powerful abbey.

The Montmartre area was the center of a lot of activity during the Paris Commune in 1871. Despite the resistance of the people of Montmartre, the area remained under Federal control from March 18 until May 23.

The end of the 19th century saw Montmartre to be the center of artistic life in Paris and the model of a free, bohemian existence. Many artists, from Berlioz to Picasso, lived, worked, and played here. These creative spirits (and their café, the Lapin Agile) helped keep this area the city's intellectual and artistic center up until the first World War.

Last Friday, Jackie and I tossed the tent and sleeping bags into the car and headed out on a last minute, impromptu road trip. We've contemplated the idea of a Lake Michigan Circle Tour all summer long ... and with summer winding down ... the fact that we didn't get any real beach time ... and needing to get out of this house ... a road trip along the lake shore seemed like the ideal trip! And it certainly was! The weather was PERFECT! Beautiful warm, sunny days ... cool nights ... and no rain! Sleeping under the stars and roasting hotdogs on the fire ... HEAVEN!

We spent the first couple of nights in Baileys Harbor on the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin. We drove over to Whitefish Dunes State Park the first morning and lounged on the beach all day! We brought a cooler with lunch and tasty beverages; read books and soaked up some well needed sun!! It was heavenly to unplug and get back to nature.

I am driving back to Michigan today to meet up with an old High School chum for Labor Day Weekend. What are your plans?

On my second day in Paris I had a lot to see and do. After heading down to see La Conciergerie, I decided to head up to the Opera House in Paris, Palais Garnier. This looks quite impressive from the outside, but the inside is quite magnificent. Sadly you're not allowed to use tripods and it's very dark in parts of it. Luckily I rarely pay attention to 'no tripod' rules.

Sometimes when I process interiors I try and show how they looked at the time, although this one looked quite spooky, so I went down the gothic route. After spending time looking around this building, I headed back to the louvre to see the Mona Lisa. It's surprisingly small!

This shot looks much cooler in the lightbox. (Press L)

This is a continuation of my series of street shots from Cambodia.

We were on our way to one of the many temples in Siem Reap and we see this very interesting sight on the roads. Our guide who was sitting next to us says "today they are pigs, but tomorrow they will be pork". Thats a funny statement but I'm sure its so much fun for those pigs who have been tied alive to the motorcycle and taken on a ride to the city.

There are many villages around Siem Reap and these are farmers who raise Pigs in their houses or farms and they come to the city to sell them to the restaurants for consumption. They apparently are not too well off to hire a van or a bigger vehicle to transport these pigs. So the best alternative is to tie them to their motorcycle and given them the ride of their life and most possibly the last ride of their lives.

This was definitely one of the more interesting things that I was able to capture during this trip. Hope you guys are enjoying you Sunday.

I hope many of you are staying safe indoors and not letting hurricane Irene bother you much. Thank you for your visit and comments.

I took this a couple of weeks ago while driving to visit my brother. I've been so busy editing wedding photos I just now realized I needed to post this.

A guy in a work truck pulled up just as I was about to take these pictures, and I was sure he was going to chase me off, since I was about 50 feet from a windmill at one point, but he just kind of watched me suspiciously and then drove away. So, apparently this is totally an okay thing to do. Good to know for the future. :)

There is something beautiful and grand and magnificent about wind farms, about windmills. They're unimaginably big: I can't convey it in a photo. They move like deliberate, towering giants, whirring softly behind the hissing current of the wind. I find them strangely graceful.

♫ Lou Reed - Perfect Day (subtitulado en castellano ).♫

A song by Lou Reed that makes you feel a great day in good company.

Photography dedicated to José Ignacio/PHENIX , that day taught me to shoot in manual, thank you very much master.

Valdearenas is a beach in the town of Liencres, located near the Natural Park of Dunes Liencres.

This is a large beach, characterized by fine white sand and high dunes next to a pine forest. Alternate the eastern most rocky, with only the western rocks. Also important for a spectacular sunset.

this scene was captured from a walk along the Chicago Riverwalk in the Streeterville Neighborhood...this was the night before the so called Supermoon(full moon) when i decided to shoot it a night earlier because of a forecasted cloudy night on the actual supermoon night...love the sheen and reflections on the river's surface here which i think pops out so well against that beautiful cobalt blue skies during the magical blue hour...this part of the river is practically almost the mouth of the river as to the left of the frame is where it empties out into Lake Michigan...have a great Sunday friends...Pls.View On Black

La ou le vent me porte

J' irai la ou le vent me porte

Pas besoin de frapper à ta porte

J' écouterai le bruit de ton coeur

Me transporter sur la route du bonheur
