Jakob is our trailie and he loves to track. Where we live has rather a lot of rabbits. This exercises his tracking skills every day. When he is in the zone, other senses are secondary and at times, no amount of shouting, whistling of waving will get his attention. Today, the look of concentration says it all!

Second Valley

South Australia

Wet and wild down at Second Valley last month as I got soaked through despite wearing waterproofs all round - the camera was well protected which allowed me to remain in the same spot to take a bunch of images without changing composition from retreating!

"Carrasecare or Carre 'e segare, this word identifies the carnival in the central areas of Sardinia. Etymologically it means "living flesh to be torn apart", as it was consumed in the Dionysian festivals to commemorate the death of the god torn to pieces by the titans."

This abstract of fall colors is a little out of my comfort zone but I liked the vibrancy of the nearby trees and sky reflected in the water.

*I'm having a very hard time using flickr (for a few days now)...even on my phone app. I either get "Bad Panda" or a blank screen. I will continue to try to comment (on your photos and mine). Sorry if it takes a little time. 😟

Being outside laying in the grass makes Drusilla feel so zen. She celebrated the first dandelion of the season.

Super Sprint, Claremont, Florida. The transition zone is the coolest place on earth. I love watching them run in there, pop on their shoes, grab their bikes, and roll on out. For my baby, it's a reward for finishing the swim ... a nice, easy bike ride.

Oh, and I love how he looks like the boys on the poster, all athletic and stuff.

A Pacific golden plover overlooks a tide pool to see what bounty a wave might hurl into the intertidal splash zone. Most kolea I have observed establish territorial fidelity at inland grassy areas. This one earns its classification as a shorebird. A superb navigator, the kolea (Pluvialis fulva) annually migrates from Alaska and to tropical Pacific islands on a high endurance non-stop flight of 3 to 4 days over thousands of miles of featureless open ocean. Using the stars and the earth’s magnetic field (perhaps visually with magnetoreception in cryptochrome molecules in the eye) to precisely find its destination.

The tent with the round roof...

What's this- me adding additional light!? It just doesn't seem proper.

It was a very, very dark night by the time we had retreated halfway down the building. To get a sense of the room at all, the ever handy Michael did some light painting with my (rapidly overheating) torch. At the sea-facing side of the building we felt safe to create light. At the 'front' side however, we hid in the darkness as we realised we were in full view of a lady looking out of her window. Please don't call the police!, I hoped.

These wide windows were rather oppressive in the standard rooms but here (not sure what this room was) the open space made great use of an entire wall of windows. The landscape stretched out all the way across - it was really interesting.

I'm well outside my comfort zone today.....

I nearly deleted this shot when I downloaded Sunday night's pictures to the laptop. But there was something about it that I found appealing. It's a shot of the sun setting over Earlswood Lake and I was trying out that 'zoomy' thing where you shift the zoom as you're shooting. Maybe someone can tell me if there's a better, more technical term I should be using :))
