Curves and Zigzags is the third work from an ongoing series of free-standing walls that straddle painting and sculpture. Comte’s practice embraces all media with equal ferocity and she uses this series to examine what happens when two-dimensional painting is superimposed on three dimensional structure. Unlike graffiti artists her walls are built specifically for the work they carry. In Curves and Zigzags, the painting starts with a stringent geometric composition that gradually morphs into a more organic wave like pattern reminiscent of Bridget Riley optical paintings or the gardens of Burle Marx. Playing on the constant exchange of dualities – nature and culture, order and chaos, geometric and organic form – Comte’s wall suggests a walk through the shifting sands of abstraction and on to a place where beauty and contemplation sit side by side.

Zigzag ribbon pattern based on Zigzag Ribbon stitch in A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns (p. 123) by Barbara G. Walker. The pattern was modified by adding yo's were the pattern called for a lifted increase to give it a more lacey look. The yarn overs almost disappear in the photo.

Here's my layout for the throw size quilt. I don't think a layed it out right, but with the next couple steps of instruction I'm sure I'll figure it out!
The brand new ipod Nano is a incredible thing. I have no idea how they put everything into this small seamless cylinder cover. very smooth without any zigzag shape, I love it.

Met behulp van een handige toolkit die bestaat uit Instructables trainden wij op 12 november 2014 onder andere docenten, schoolbegeleiders en onderwijsassistenten in het geven van deze ZigZag workshops. Op deze wijze willen we textiel-gerelateerd erfgoed levend houden en onder de aandacht brengen.
The ZigZag ticket provided by Trent Barton offers one person a days unlimited travel after 9am, Monday to Friday across their entire network. It can not be used on Skylink Derby & Leicester or Pronto.
It is available anytime of day on weekends and bank holiday Mondays.
