A recreation of a zigzag fence picture I took at Ellanor C. Lawrence park.

Took a risk and bought a Minolta XD11 at an antique store; deal was as-is and included an expired roll of Kodak Ultramax 400 that the previous owner had left in the bag.

Went ahead and bought it hoping all would turn out well. Loaded some TMax 100 to re-create some of my other pictures for comparison, all good!

When I was at Roxham Farm a few weeks ago I went looking for what I heard was the oldest maple tree in Quebec. Someone told me where it was (go right at the road, turn left into the woods, follow the path, etc…) but I never did find it. On the way there I saw this zigzag fence.

Used up HSTs that I’d made years ago. Gifted to Riley.

St Monans is a village in the East Neuk of Fife and this breakwater can be found at the end of the harbour but is often missed due to being hidden behind a high wall. The unusual shape makes it a great photographic subject in all sorts of conditions but is best at high tide. This particular time, the tide was low but couldn't miss shooting it anyway

This pathway leading from a Chinese temple on a small island in Jade Lake at Chateau Montelena Winery has built-in protection for the guests after they complete a wine tasting.

I wonder if they think that they are walking a straight line?

This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera with a KOWA 1:5.6/110 lens and Hoya Skylight 1-b ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 160 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

This was taken with my Samsung phone and I applied an effect trying to make it look more interesting. It does have lots of zigzags though...

I made this quilt for my sister Angie. She wanted one like the one I made for my nephew when he was born last year.

When we first hiked 400m up a hill in Kâtkâvaara, Finnish Lapland, to see the northern lights, our guide pointed out north and told us that was the direction the lights would come from. Then we turned south and saw this! The lights stretched from horizon to horizon that night…it was stunning.

This is the Zigzag River just above the confluence with Still Creek near Rhododendron, Oregon.

I'm glad that I took this shot before the leaves come on and the moss turns green. This is the stark reality of Winter after the snows recede and prior to the renewal of Springtime.

My three recent river shots, Henry Creek, The Salmon River and this one are all rivers or creeks that are within a ten minute drive from my home.

Right now the creeks and rivers around here are running quite well with plenty of rain to feed the flow.

Stay dry! Take pictures!

A shot that I made while shooting with my buddy Nick Grier. We had planned to shoot a couple of creeks and waterfalls up here near Mount Hood but didn't expect the sun to shine.

This photo was made the other day while I was shooting with Nick Grier. We had planned the day ahead of time and so we both knew that we would be victim of the conditions and the conditions turned out to be beautiful... unless you planned on shooting a couple waterfalls. How many enjoy shooting a waterfall in the middle of the dry hot day with direct sun light shining into the scene in one area and shadows as dark as night in other areas?

I just used a CP on this shot. Processed in ACR finished in CS4... although it only needed some localized contrast adjustments.

Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

福建南靖土楼--裕昌楼, 整座楼东倒西歪,其倾斜设计屹立了几百年,即使在地震中也不倒,令现代建筑设计师百思不得其解,其建筑设计之谜至今没有彻底揭开。

Yuchanglou has been nicknamed the "zigzag building", because the vertical wooden post structure is not straight and perpendicular, but zigzags left and right. It was built that way due to an error measuring the building materials. But in spite of this apparent infirmity, this tall tulou withstood 700 hundred years of natural elements and social turmoil. Yuchanglou's outer ring is 36 m in diameter and boasts five stories, with 50 rooms on each floor.

Each of the 25 kitchens on the ground floor at the back half of the circle has a private water well beside its stove. This is the only tulou in all Fujian with such convenient water supply.

There was a one story inner-ring house surrounding the ancestral hall as late as 2003. This part of the building stood nearly 700 years intact until, unfortunately, it was dismantled after 2003
