The garden has been open to the public since 1947. Since 1980 the garden has been owned by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé.
After Yves Saint Laurent died in 2008 his ashes were scattered in the Majorelle Garden.
De Marjorelletuin is een botanische tuin in Marrakesh. De tuin is in 1924 ontworpen door de Franse kunstenaar Jacques Majorelle in 1924, toen Marokko werd overheerst door Frankrijk. De kobaltblauwe kleur waarin vele onderdelen van de tuin en het atelier zijn geverfd is later naar Majorelle vernoemd.
Sinds 1949 is de tuin en het atelier van Majorelle opengesteld voor publiek. In het voormalig atelier is een klein etnografisch museum gevestigd. Sinds 1980 is de Majorelletuin eigendom van Yves Saint Laurent (overleden 1 juni 2008) en Pierre Bergé.
