Art installation of Yoko Ono
at Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain
"Wish Tree for Bilbao is a participatory work created by the artist as part of a series she began in 1996, inspired by the Japanese tradition of hanging prayers from a shrub, tree, or bamboo plant. In this work, the artist invites visitors to write down their wishes for peace, which, after being hung on the tree, are sent to Ono to be included in her project Imagine Peace Tower (2007). Created by Ono in memory of her late husband John Lennon (1940–1980), Imagine Peace Tower is an environmental light installation located in an open landscape on Viðey Island, Reykjavík, Iceland. Designed as a wishing well, it is symbolic of Lennon’s advocacy and Ono’s continuing campaign for world peace.
The installation at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao alternates between periods when visitors can write down their wishes and when they can whisper them to the tree.
Ono has created different versions of this piece, which can be found in various museums, including the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., and now the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao."

«IMAGINE».
À l'aube de 2011, on ne pouvait se douter des événements mondiaux qui allaient se produire. On espérait de belles photos. On a été comblé. On ne pouvait se douter des événements non loin de chez nous sont survenus. On n'a pu imaginer certaines catastrophes. On n'a pu imaginer certains événements heureux. On n'a pu imaginer certains départs.
«IMAGINE». Who would have thought of the world events (including in our communities) that happened in 2011? Somehow, somewhere, some people (including photographs) thought that they could make a difference...and they did. «Imagine». What holds 2012? May it be a great year for you all whatever your goals might be. Enjoy. (Yep, that is part of the John Lennon - Ono exhibition held in Montreal a few years back).

Photography should be real, truthful and hit hard at the senses whether it's a man without legs or a lovely sunset.
I do shoot both!
Part of my repertoire is shooting people in pain.
Social outcasts, people who have no advocacy and who survive on the generosity of others due to their disabilities.
I don't see life through rose colored glasses.........
For the last 4 decades I have been a physician, a shooter , a donator and a spiritual humanitarian visitor/ lecturer in international psychiatry on behalf of worldwide charitable organizations.
Here are just some of the organizations i have been associated with.
You can help if you want to. The world needs you. Here are some organizations that could use your involvement ones that i have been exposed to.

I recently spent time in three leprosy colonies where untrained volunteers cut through the dead skin of the feet of people with Leprosy. This alleviates some of the pain because although lepers do not feel their lesions the lesions do start to ulcerate and cause pain locally. Under poor lighting and in filthy surroundings this was being done
at all the centers.

Giving doesn't only mean money. I've visited Presbyterians missions worldwide to provide emotional and monetary support to let these selfless people who work for peanuts helping those who have no voice and no medical help in their countries, know their actions are not overlooked and are what makes the difference to so many millions of the downtrodden & disenfranchised worldwide.
17- Most recently i am involved with the CATHOLIC CHURCH in INDIA helping build homes for LEPERS and their children and schools for the children. The stigma of LEPROSY is huge and though CHILDREN do not have the disease due to ignorance they are not allowed in the general population.
This is being done in PURI, in the state of ORISSA in INDIA.

Yes - yet another month has vanished, and suddenly it must be summer as we look forward to June.
May has been so full of demands on both time and energy that there was little opportunity to take out cameras or lenses just to play around and see what emerged. And that is the bit I like most … finding something unexpected and new (at least to me!)
Like so many parts of the world, the weather here is a dominant concern.
For us the drought has meant a time-consuming process of collecting every drop of water we can in buckets. The garden has managed to flourish, though the flowers are smaller and fall very quickly. I've been looking back to previous years for reminders of better summers!
Some rain has finally arrived - so I'm hoping that June will allow us to go and explore some favourite haunts we haven't visited in years.
As ever - many thanks to everyone who has visited my photostream and for the comments and faves.

The Park Avenue Armory installed 92 trees to honor Yoko Ono on her 92nd birthday. This is the largest installation of her ongoing "Wish Tree" in North America to date. Visitors are encouraged to contribute to the installation by writing their wishes on cards and tying them to the trees, creating and participating in Yoko Ono's project.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY <3
BE BOLD FOR CHANGE <3
“But really, we also need to learn how to love one another as women. How to appreciate and respect each other.”
- Chaka Khan
“We are women … we are strong … being strong is not about who shouts the loudest … being a woman does not mean losing our feminity or our nurturing qualities … we can accomplish good things by tender words … we can overcome almost anything life throws at us, because we are women … we are survivors … we are sisters … we are friends … we are us and there is no I in us or we“ - AP

WOMAN – JOHN LENNON
Happy Women's Day to all my friends
and all those I've yet to meet
thank you for being there for me
for helping me back on my feet
thank you for showing me the light of day
and pulling me from out of the dark
and thank you for listening to all my woes
and letting me make my mark
for I've found a place to call my own
and you've found a place in my heart
and every day is a new beginning
there's no time to lose; let's start
and for all those who chose a different path
I am sad to see you go
but know that I keep an open door
for those women who are not ready yet to know
I always tell it straight from my heart that is
but still my words may fall upon deaf ears
but I hope you will give me a chance one day
to rekindle a friendship once held so dear
you know who you are because I don't block you
for I have so much hope in my heart
but for those of you who are still not ready
I pray one day you will be ready to start
we all have lessons to learn my friends
we all have so much to give
but for women who treat women appallingly
that's really no way to live
the sun is shining on us all today
we are sisters beneath it's rays
and I hope our friendships will last forever
for the remainder of our days.

My second time to capture The Northern lights, and of course I was at home again, without my tripod and needed to take photos through a window...this was the best I got..
By the way, that high blue light in the photo is the light from the Imagine Peace-tower that is for John Lennon from his widow Yoko Ono. See a better photo of it here: www.flickr.com/photos/jaanamarja/5066171110/

When lit up recently Yoko passed out some peace awards which even brought Lady Gaga to Reykjavik.
But I saw no reason to capture her photo.
I totally love this guy and always have and often speculate how he'd be affecting our world today had he lived:

John, Sean, and Yoko pose for a family portrait in Japan. This was John's last visit to Karuizawa. During the summer of 1980, John & Yoko recorded their last album together, Double Fantasy, and did not go to Japan.
