Paschima Namaskarasana or the reverse prayer pose is also called the Viparita Namaskarasana. In Sanskrit, Paschima means west or in this context the back; Namaskara means Greetings and Asana means a Pose. This asana can be done in either the standing or the sitting posture. Bhadrasana or Gracious pose is a sitting posture and a meditative posture as it is suitable for prolonged periods of sitting. Bhadra means gracious and blessed. According to Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita, this asana is a destroyer of diseases, relieves fatigue and tones reproductive organs. This asana helps for normal child delivery. According to Swatmarama it is also known as gorakshasana, and moola bandhasana is a variation of Bhadrasana but in these positions, the foot positions vary slightly.

Kurmasana is a seated yoga asana in which the body folds at the waist and the arms slip under the legs. It is recommended to stay in the pose for 30 to 40 seconds and for roughly five to 10 breaths. Sasangasana Rabbit pose—alternately called hare pose, hare headstand, and sasangasana (sometimes written shashankasana)—is an asana that evokes nostalgia for childhood playfulness, a deep connection to nature, and the calm gentleness of bunnies. In Sanskrit the moon is called sasanga, “having the marks of a hare.” If we were to look closely at the moon, perhaps we could find a rabbit-like shadow, and the curled roundness of this pose reflects both moon and rabbit in shape.

Niralamba Sirsasana is an advanced headstand that requires a strong sense of balance and focus. The name comes from the Sanskrit, Nira, which means “without”; Lamba, which means “support”; Sirsa, meaning “head”; and asana, meaning “posture” or “pose.”

Niralamba Sirsasana is a variation of Sirsasana or headstand, but the arms or hands do not support any of the bodyweights in the pose. Instead, the arms provide balance without bearing weight. The arm position can vary, but in a common one, the arms reach forward with the fingertips touching the ground.

Hanumanasana is an advanced seated asana that requires lots of flexibility in the hips, groin and legs -- particularly the hamstrings and quadriceps. The name comes from the name of the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman; and asana, meaning “pose.” This asana is named as such because it represents the leap Hanuman made from the southern tip of India, as described in the epic poem, "Ramayana."

 

In the fullest expression of this asana, the legs are in a full split position, with one leg extended in front of the torso and the other behind the torso. The hands and arms may be placed on the ground on either side of the body, in prayer position (anjali mudra) or stretched to the sky.

 

Hanumanasana is also known in English as monkey pose, seated splits or splits.
