SK65 PWE is a Wright Streetdeck H45/28F new Nov 2015 , one of eight new at Wells depot to replace single deck Volvos on service 376 from Bristol to Street. All eight were in blue and gold livery with Mendip Xplorer branding and First Mendip fleetnames.

They quickly proved unsuitable for the steep climbs over the Mendips , and were transferred to the Bristol fleet in in 2019 and repainted in Urban livery with red or purple fronts.

35163/4 were withdrawn in October 2022 , and 35162 was repainted in blue driver recruitment livery in September 2022. The remaining five were transferred to Weston-super-Mare at the beginning of April 2023 , along with the other remaining 65 reg'd Streetdecks. Of this batch only 35165 was repainted in Badgerline livery. 35161 was withdrawn in May 2024 , and 35166 more recently to be converted to Electric power.

With the start of the summer timetable this week the frequency of the A1 service to Bristol Airport has been increased and more buses are needed. 33108-10 have been transferred to Hengrove and are operating in Glasgow Airport colours with the exterior branding removed. 35162 is leaving Marlborough Street bus station on service A1 to Bristol Airport.

Sitting around as standby diver can be dull, you have to sit it out while someone else dives, so should they need it, you can put on your dive hat and rescue or assist them.

 

Depending on the site, depth and current, you can be sitting around for ages. You can read and find ways to pass the time, so I brought my camera, and snapped everything around me.

 

These are our high pressure air banks we use for our breathing air. The j-bottles hold loads of air and we charge them up using a compressor on the deck of Xplorer, the survey boat work hires for our diving.

Built in Victoria by ABB Transportation, the XPLORER uses technology proven in both Australian and European rail services. It's quiet, fully air conditioned and environmentally friendly and can run as two, three, five or larger carriage sets as demand requires.

 

Unlike CountryLink's XPT where all electrical and tractive power is provided by the first and last carriages, each XPLORER carriage is fitted with independent traction and auxiliary engines which work in unison and are controlled by the driver. The engines are KTA-19-R 375 kW, 19 litre turbo-charged made by Cummins. Each XPLORER carriage can carry 1600 litres of fuel, enough for a 1600km trip.

XP2004 & 2528 at Central arrive after doing their seperate services, XPT arrived from Grafton while the Xplorer has arrived from a Canberra service.
