A Union Pacific eastbound manifest freight has been routed via the westbound track. This happens from time to time when an eastbound train stalls on Main 2 or during track maintenance.

An SD40-DD35-SD40-2 sandwich tackles the 1.73% grade of Main 1 (versus the 1.14% of Main 2) at Castle Rock in Echo Canyon, Utah.

I picked the wrong week to go on vacation...

(i have turned this one around so you can see the lovely building Ashton Memorial is but it is a puddle reflection)

.................can't have you all standing on your heads!!

West Side of Chicago.

Not pictured: this Osprey facing away from the water. The entire time.

Or maybe the right path in the end. I was heading for a photogenic lone tree but I went the wrong way. By the time I realised my error I didn't want to backtrack and miss the conditions so I used those path lines as foreground interest. You can just make out the Fawley power station towers on the horizon.

Another school day dream...am i in the wrong school? Or am i wearing the wrong uniform?

While on a little hike through the woods last fall, I came upon this giant wasps nest. It was so quiet, I assumed it was empty and abandoned for the winter. As I got closer, I saw how wrong I was! Look closely....you'll see! Lucky for me, I didn't disturb them from their slumber.

Please view large to see the sleeping wasps!

I'm never sure of Skipper ID's, so please correct me if I've gotten this one wrong!

Taken at The International Centre for BIrds of Prey in Newent (well some of it was!).

Another 2014 shot, this one from March of that year. CP SD30C-ECO 5013 leads an IC&E SD40-2 and one of the last GP9s on the roster at that point, west at Cragin Junction on Chicago's west side with a manifest routed to Bensenville Yard via Tower A-5. It felt like the wrong leader at the time, but I'd certainly take it these days.

Come on girls. work with me here, can't you see my hands are tied.

Beware of taking a wrong turn while hiking in Iceland. You may end up seeing different beautiful scenery than you intended to see.

You have been warned.

(Hveragerði area of Iceland)

A Ewe laying peacefully with a flock of Starlings noisily searching round it for food.

Apparently the collective noun for Starlings is a Murmuration, however, is this true when they are on the ground? We usually associate a Murmuration as the mass patterns created by Starlings in flight, or at least I do!

... but easter will come

Another hard to see bird in the grasslands, but not uncommon. They are quite small, the size of a man's fist or a tad bigger. They tend to stick to grassy areas in the presence of other animals or humans, but come out in the open on red soil during evenings or mornings.

In the grass, we couldn't ID the bird since it was far and could positively confirm it only on computer. So we used a call to confirm it and played a wrong call - that of a Jungle Bush Quail. This bird and few others responded several times and looked for it. But strangely, the jungle bush quail wasn't sighted since it wasn't the habitat. There is still some debate about the id though.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback.

Taken in Rochedale South, Queensland 4123.

This beautiful rosella landed on the telephone line opposite my home one early morning. However, perhaps it had got out of the wrong side of the nest that day…

All appeared quite normal when, for no apparent reason, it took great offence over the fact that a Spotted dove who had been there for a while already, and was happily (if a little monotonously) cooing away as they do, was perched not far away. Without further provocation it then launched a full on attack, not only frightening the daylights out of the poor creature but also removing a beak full of feathers!

Muchas gracias cariño por estar siempre ahí <3

Tecnically, just about everything is wrong with this shot, but I quite like it because I captured a fly, a bee and a beetle in focus in one shot. I had my camera set for quite a different shot and just quickly changed the shutter speed and snapped the shot :-)

On this day 254 should've had 8757 leading, but it died at Wolverton. So they replaced it with the GP38s which is still cool

...Ok, I'm long out of stories for this location. Let's just jump to the editing stage.

Some of my Fushimi posts involved strands of, or going to the light, so this time I thought I'd do the opposite and have one that leads down into the dark. And fortunately I had just the composition in a sea of torii shots still waiting to be edited. Maybe you don't wanna go this way, something is not sitting right. I increased the blackpoint in the middle of the frame which was a bit of a challenge as I had to line up 2 seperate layers and make it look natural enough. And that's where the story ends, so um, how does it look?

CP 234 at Mile 59 Galt Subdivision.

Having high hopes of CP 7023 leading 234 this morning I was a little let down to see the red nose of CP 7006 leading...but all in all it's still a decent consist and I don't have any real issues with it!

The weathermen forecast dull dingy fog but we got lucky and they were wrong.

An installation by Terry, at terrygold art gallery in Second Life, one work saying so much in one scene. maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Peaceful%20Land/241/118/1107

Terry writes:

"With my friends, when I was a young girl, we played lying on the lawn, looking for funny faces, animals and strange objects among the clouds in the sky… the clouds stirred by the wind’s fantasy created stories, we laughed on that lawn, few things were enough.

Even today every now and then, remembering those times, I play this game, white clouds in ever-changing vortices, new faces... new animals and stories.

But if the clouds are created by thunderous bombs… if the clouds are dark and threatening, what game can kids play today?

Will they be able to see with their imagination… stories?..."

OLEG:

What's wrong with you Aurora? You look so worried.

Don't you like living with Mummy Marian?

I understand you miss Antartica.

AURORA:

Oh no...I don't miss Antartica and I like living with Mummy Marian.

It's just...well...I worry about Nanuk you know.

It's summer here in the Netherlands and that means on the other side of the world, like Australia, it's winter.

And...and...Nanuk can't stand the cold.

Peter sees Aurora and Oleg sitting on the swing set and comes running.

PETER:

Aurora!!!!! What's wrong with you? Are you sick? Do you have a fever?

OLEG:

Peter! Take it easy and get off that swing set.

Soon you'll fall off.

PETER:

Sssst! Watch your heart Oleg. You're not the youngest anymore.

Ex ..i..met...err...doing like that is not good for your age

OLEG:

Please Peter listen to me

Aurora is worried about Nanuk and I'm trying to explain that she doesn't have to be. So let me have a word with her will you!

PETER:

You're not being nice to me again Oleg

OLEG:

No need to worry dear Aurora.

I'm sure Daddy Jesse will take good care of Nanuk and I also know Paddy is a caring bear who has a lot of experience, just like me.

Besides, we can always visit and see how he is doing.

AURORA:

Thank you Oleg!

You are so wise.

I'm not worried anymore

PETER:

Shall we visit Nanuk now?

I want to play with Scout and I want to see my dearest princess Rosie!

AURORA:

Oh...yes...can we go to Nanuk Oleg?

I would also like to see Scoutie with his sweet little nose again

OLEG:

No we can't go now.

This week we have to help Mummy Marian

She needs us...you knew that, right?

PETER:

After helping Mummy Marian, we may then visit??

OLEG:

I need to discuss that with Daddy Jesse and Paddy first.

As it was shooted. Sem tratamento, apenas a foto.

Is this sign referring to me??

I did some color experiments and somehow liked the result for this image.

Does this Great Blue Heron not know to be on the other side of the path so that the sun is at my back?
