Having supposed to enter from the eastern end of Washwood Heath RMC, the Colas tamper instead ran to Duddeston to run around and head in the other way. The Tamper had worked from Rugby, with a reversal at Walall.
Cat Portaits 101…
Step 1: Obtain cat;
Step 2: Construct make-shift studio in highest location possible – in this case, on top of a four drawer, metal filing cabinet (cats love high spots);
Step 3: Place cat in burlap bag for 24 hours (okay...a word of caution as this is morally and ethically wrong...besides, it will only make the cat grumpy and less cooperative);
Step 3: Place cat “in studio,” observe cat sniff environment;
Step 4: Place treats between camera and cat (cat tends to “look towards” camera this way);
Step 5: Hold can of compressed air above and behind camera left…express can ever so slightly to obtain cat’s undivided attention (note: although it might feel good and give one a personal sense of satisfaction, expressing one's self is generally less effective in obtaining and maintaining a cat's attention at this point);
Step 6: Snap as many photos in as short a time as possible…one of them has got to work out.

Enroute to Mankato to shoot the RCPE after a recent snowfall, came along this UP manifest making its way thru the Minnesota River near Jordan. Would have rather had the UP 1943 leading, but facing the wrong direction.

I honestly didn't think Colleen and I were going to come home with a single doll on Thursday afternoon. After she got out of work, we headed to a pet supply store (now that my Jeep has been repaired and it's safe to drive on the highway). We always stop at Target on the return trip home, since it's literally on the way. I glanced at the website earlier in the week, wondering if we could catch sales while we were there. Sadly, there didn't seem to be any offers going on. I needed to get pet supplies this week though, so I couldn't put it off. When we arrived at Target, all the toy aisles were a MESS!!! I noticed when we walked into the L.O.L. section that there were sale tags EVERYWHERE!!! My mind was boggled by the half empty shelves and the misplaced dolls. We spent way more time in Target than usual, making sure to check every nook and cranny for any potential treasures. I was bummed out that Year of the Tiger tot and pet were sold out (they were just $3 each...and I've been hoping to buy them). Of course, we did manage to score four tots. I remember wanting the Arcade Heroes boys when the line first came out (but they were a pricey $21 for the Series 1, $15 for Series 2). I realized that their boxes display images of the character inside...so you don't have to worry about the surprise element. That's why I was able to buy two boys from the same series! You can see in this photo that someone had ripped the front of Bhaddie Bros' box open...poor guy (I pulled back the other two dolls' boxes to make sure I wasn't wrong about the boxes being character specific). The Series 1 boys were $6 each; Series 2 had been marked down to $4 each (there was another guy from this wave, but I opted to only buy the dolls I really wanted). I found one lone Remix Hair Flip girl by herself in the board game aisle. She was not quite $5 (marked down from $16). I was delighted when Colleen opened this box up at home and revealed Roadie...she's my favorite from the series! I rarely buy Barbies, but when these Cutie Reveal dolls came under my radar, I fell in love. I was bummed that the bunny and puppy were sold out. For some reason the kitten was still full priced...that's why I only bought panda Barbie. She was $7, marked down from $25 (I want the rest of the series someday when they are discounted). She might be my favorite find of the day...but I adore them all (it depends on who I'm currently admiring). I also included these little clay pieces that are meant for using with UV resin. I got them at Michael's for 50% off (they cost me $5). I love creating doll jewelry with UV resin, so it's always handy to have things like this around. It was so much fun acquiring this haul of dollies...the flea market has been a bust most of this year so far (and last weekend we couldn't go since my Jeep was being fixed).

This is a video that I published wrong two years ago. No, I don't think I'm a great dancer. I used to be, once, it's about not losing the groove! Screwing up this vid has bothered me the last two years. You'd be surprised how many times I remember I screwed up, although I usually don't worry about little mistakes like videos. The thing is I was learning a new video editing program and had no idea what I was doing. But guess what? I found my motivation. Listening to the music I used for this one reminds me of how I felt when I first heard this song. You may hate it, bit it works for me! Lol! I'm about to put it in my workout playlist:) Yay! Everything old is new again - how fitting for the new year.

I feel like I want to post a million pictures. but I know I don't have the time, not yet, anyway. I have an appointment with my hairdresser in a few. Boring. She speaks Spanish, so I'll get to practice speaking it with her. That's fun!
I hope I don't start drowning in work again. I'll try not to stay away too long because y'all add so much color to my life!

After observing most of the locomotives leaving the shift change at Dongbolizhan we headed to the pit to photograph the first loaded train of the day. A fellow British enthusiast, Doug, was also at the shift change and had already made his way down to the lineside with guide Jun where he informed us on our arrival that the line was not operating normally.
A landslip had occurred overnight, possibly caused by one of the numerous underground fires and had made the ground by part of the line unstable. Management were keen to repair the slip as soon as possible so spoil was being excavated from half along the line between the pit and Kengkouzhan in order to fill in the unstable area. JS class no.8081 and it's rake of coal wagons had been commandeered and was sitting on the nominal up line out of the pit being loaded with spoil which meant those trains being loaded with coal would have to use the normal down line when running to one of the unloading points. JS class no.8190 is seen on the climb out of the pit running wrong road with one of the first loaded coal trains after the morning shift change on 16th February 2017.
