Uthayan ~ Tamil language daily newspaper was started in 1985 in Jaffna, North of Sri Lanka .
A protest was organised by Free Media Movement (FMM), Sri Lanka Tamil Media Alliance (SLTMA), Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF), Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA), Federation of Media Employees Trade Union (SLMETU),Media Movement for Democracy (MMD) and South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA).Nearly 47 journalists from Colombo traveled to Jaffna by A9 highway to show solidarity. They condemned the brutal assault by protesting in front of the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus stand in Jaffna on 16th of August 2011. It was a rare protest for the Peninsula people to witness. “ஏதாவது பிரச்சினையோ?” ~ “Is there any problem?”, “என்ன பிரச்சினை?” ~ “What is the problem?”, “இங்கை என்ன நடக்குது?” ~ “What is happening here?” a few onlookers, passers ~ by and shop keepers asked me while the protest was getting underway on a balmy day in Jaffna. “இங்கை உண்மையா என்ன நடக்குது? ~ “What is actually happening here” asked the owner of a newly built restaurant, while I was running to the restaurant roof top to capture the moments on my camera.
There was chaos as the protesters arrived in Jaffna town with placards in Tamil. Police in the vicinity came closer and asked them not to block the traffic. Verbal argument took place between the Police and the protesters. But the protesters kept chanting and walking. The traffic came to a standstill for a couple of moments, as the protesters took the space on the mot busiest road in Jaffna, the Hospital road while carrying the placards in Tamil ~ “யாழ்ப்பாண ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்கு யார் பாதுகாப்பு?” ~ “Who is responsible for the lives of the journalists in Jaffna?”, “ஊடக சுதந்திரம் பாதுகாக்கப்பட வேண்டும்” ~ “Media freedom needs to be protected”, “எப்போ முடியும் யாழ்ப்பாணத்தில் அடக்குமுறைகள்?” ~ “When will the suppression come to an end in Jaffna?”, “ஊடக சுதந்திரத்தைப் பாதுகாக்க ஒன்றுபடுவோம்” ~ Let’s unite to protect media freedom”, “குகநாதனுக்கு விழுந்த அடி உண்மைக்கு விழுந்த பேரிடி”~ Assault on Kuganathan is an assault on the Truth, “ஊடகத்துறைக்கு எதிரான அடக்குமுறையை ஒழிப்போம்” ~ Eradicate Suppression Against the Media” “ஊடகத்தின் மீதான தாக்குதலை உடனே நிறுத்து” ~ “Stop Attacking the Media Immediately”, “ஜனநாயகத்தின் குரலை ஒடுக்காதே” ~ “Don’t Suppress the voice of Democracy”, “தேர்தலில் தோற்றவர்களா மண்டையைப் பிளந்தார்கள்?” ~ “Did they split the head those who lost the elections?”
The protesters chanted “Let Us Write”,“Continue; Continue; Continue to Write”,“Do Not Kill; Do Not Kill; Do Not Kill Us; Do Not Kill the Journalists, Do Not Kill the Democracy”,“Uthyan was attacked, but nobody was arrested”, “Bring the culprit to the courts”“Do Not Attack; Do Not Attack; Do Not Attack the Media”, “Take Your Hands Off Media”“Stop; Stop; Stop the Suppression” “Kuganathan; Kuganthan who wrote the plight of the people”, “Kuganathan was attacked with Iron rods”,“Kuganathan; Kuganathan; Keep Writing, “Lift the Emergency Immediately” in Tamil and Sinhala. There were nearly 350 journalists, activists and politicians participated in the protest according to the organisers.

I fully intended to write a Tutorial on this one until I found how many adjustments were needed to get this effect.
Don't give up on me yet.....I'm working to simplify it
Faleceu na sua casa da R. de Santana em Matosinhos a 27 /02/1887 por volta das 05:00, sem descendência, tendo deixado à Confraria do Bom Jesus de Matosinhos um importante legado para património daquela instituição de fins religiosos e benemerentes, com a determinação expressa de cuidar da manutenção das Escolas por ela criadas e de instituir prémios pecuniários aos seus alunos;
porém, em 1930, o seu cadáver e o de sua esposa foram desrespeitosamente lançados na vala comum, ou ainda na vala mais comum do esquecimento público, por ter sido posto em almoeda o mausoléu mandado erigir por Godinho da Silva;

To my uk peeps - I went to see The Trip at the movies yesterday (it was apparently a bbc 6 part series) which stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon and its about this trip they take to the north of england to review some restaurants and I enjoyed it so much. Laughed a lot. Thats my kind of movie.. especially the impressions. Hahahaha. The Michael Caine one was perfect. Anyone seen it? Give me a hundred of those movies over something like The Hangover anyday. Ofcourse I know a lot of people like that movie.. but its just not me. I dont get it.
Please don't go away
You're making a mistake
You and I were meant to be
You opened up my eyes
And made me realize
Now its changing everything
It’s crazy how I feel this way
I can’t explain don't go away

-3:30am, I hate my handwriting.
My little boy came bursting into my bedroom this morning with a card and present for my birthday!
He'd written in my card with his best writing and was really proud of himself! He bought me a bicycle pump as a clue to what my present will be (once i choose one).
He offered to make me breakfast in bed (with a little help), then came back upstairs to clear away afterwards!
He was so sweet all day and I loved every minute!
I have told him though that at my age birthdays can last for up to a week!
One of my all time favorite quotes, this one by Anais Nin. The picture isn't related...the two just ended up on the page together.

Black Spiders are an English rock band based in Sheffield.
The band formed in early 2008, originally playing a few shows under the name 'the Black Spiders'. They released the three track single "St. Peter" in December 2008, to coincide with a small run of dates with Airbourne on mainland Europe in December of the same year, their first ever tour.
Black Spiders, originally put together to celebrate the passing of a dear friend and to tear up some classic rock n’ roll tunes in his honour, led by Pete ‘Spider’ Spiby with side-kick Ozzy ‘Ozzy’ Lister they set about writing tall tales and wrestling monstrous riffs. Thusly, and with great determination they began demoing tracks for a Long Player with past cohort Mark ‘Dark Shark’ Thomas. Killer shows followed with likeminded friends and heroes such as; SuperSuckers, and Dwarves... audiences were duly slain!
With the line up accommodating a face ripping triple-axe-attack, fully complemented by a rhythmic demolition squad expertly handled by ‘Tiger Si’ Atkinson on drums and Adam ‘Fox’ Irwin on bass, they set forth and tore up mainland Europe with the mighty Airbourne. Next came UK with The Datsuns, Winnebago Deal, Parlor Mob, Stone Gods and Danko Jones - these men are ready to take on a world that is eager for some rock and/or roll and have been called to appear at this year’s Download festival at the gladiatorial Donnington Park.

The writing on the wall says it all... but only if you know what you are reading. To a normal Joe, it just looks like an young school kid came in and scribbled all over the wall. As you look closer, there are some hidden messages written that only the scriber and those privileged to understand know what it says and what it means. To truly understand, I suspect you would have to been a student of the streets from the school of Hard Knocks! More at digitalchemicals.blogspot.com/2014/01/15-min-shoot-delibe...

About Me - about.me/edwardconde
I found this among some useless papers, tonight. It almost got thrown in the wastebasket. It brings back painful memories but I'm glad I saved it.
Sitting on some sandbags and surrounded by scattered debris, this officer is writing a letter home. He is wearing puttees (protective leggings) over his lower legs.
Mail to and from home was strictly censored during the conflict. Soldiers were not allowed to mention the name of wherever they were located. As many of the soldiers were illiterate, officers also had to read out and transcribe letters for the men.
It is interesting to note that although the establishment was keen to suppress news and opinions about the war, the press did like to give the front line soldiers a voice.
[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT. An officer writing home.']
I just realized I never uploaded a picture of the crocheted dolls/plushies I made a while ago of my characters! I'm writing a comedic fantasy book series about artists and carnival performers and these are my main characters. My main-main character is an artist (he's the one in blue), so I covered him in paint splatters. The other four are carnival performers- two with fire, two with knives/blades as their acts.
These dolls were made mostly from crochet, with felt, paint, and polymer clay accessories.

Montblanc Flagship Boutique 151 Bloor St. W. Toronto ON.
For 22 years, the luxury brand headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, has celebrated the contribution of a different historical patron of the arts and coincides with the annual Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Awards, an honour established in 1992 to recognise the commitment of modern-day patrons of the arts in 12 countries. The latest Patron of Art Edition, with its Solid Gold Limited Edition 888 and its Sterling Silver Limited Edition 4810 fountain pens priced at £6,400 and £1,765 respectively (including VAT), celebrates the life of Ludovico Sforza (1452 – 1508), the Duke of Milan, a shrewd ruler and an ambitious diplomatist who had an insatiable passion for the arts, transforming the Italian city into one of the most magnificent courts in Europe. Under the Duke’s patronage, Leonardo Da Vinci created his most famous works including the ‘Last Supper’ and the ‘Lady with an Ermine’. The monumental Castello Sforzesco in Milan, home to the prestigious ducal dynasty is the inspiration for the Editions’ cap and clip design which boats distinctive cylindrical towers. The writing instrument’s fittings replicate the pattern Da Vinci, used in his fresco in the “Sala delle Asse” or “Chamber of Boards”, as well as in the Mona Lisa’s robes and ornaments. The initials engraved on the cap’s ring originate from the “Testone”, a silver coin issued in honour of Ludovico Sforza during the Milanese Renaissance. The blue lacquered cap and barrel of the Limited Edition 888 are embellished with Da Vinci’s pattern in dark translucent blue. The fountain pen’s solid gold fittings contrast with majestic blue lacquer, reflecting the vibrant colour of the ceiling fresco. Crowned with the distinctive Montblanc emblem in fine mother-of-pearl and with its cone adorned with the Duke’s coat of arms, this writing masterpiece is a fitting representation of the magnificence of Sforza’s court. In contrast, the Limited Edition 4810’s cap and barrel are crafted from precious black lacquer featuring Da Vinci’s intricate designs in silver. The 925 Sterling Silver fountain pen is crowned with the Montblanc star in white precious resin. The 750 rhodium plated solid gold nib of the Edition is engraved with the Duke’s coat of arms, a final acknowledgement to a lasting cultural legacy.

2013 Montblanc Ludovico Sforza = 2013 Duke of Milan Limited Edition. I love the design, but as a limited edition it may well have priced itself out of my weekly allowance range. I didn't ask the price.
The design of the Limited Edition Ludovico Sforza 4810 and 888 cap top and cone is characterised by the striking architecture of the Castello Sforzesco. The black lacquer of the 4810 edition is adorned with ornaments inspired by da Vinci's ceiling fresco from the "Sala delle Asse" in the Milanese castle. Leonardo's pattern
