"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
— Edmund Burke, early Irish statesman
Trying to embrace my anxiety about the climate emergency and our politics, and continue to write and to vote.
I promise I won't bombard you with ALL of them one at a time, but I had to share another one : D
When I'm done with the set, maybe I'll post a mosaic. Latte anyone?? ; )

I have been having a difficult time with things lately. Much of my time has been spent in deep conversation trying to sort out all the things in between.
There's a new project I've got my mind on and maybe if you'd like we should talk sometime.
Pushing through things for now, though.

Kim Thuy's Ru is also available in English and well worth reading.
I interpreted the theme broadly. My father was in the Sammy Kaye Orchestra during the 1940's - then broke out and formed a band in the 50's. This is one of his first business cards and a couple of newspaper articles from his memorabilia. If you are old enough - you may recognize Carmen Miranda in the photo.

Another one from the Odawara Fire Festival held in Japan's Kanagawa prefecture. A festival practitioner writes kanji in the air as part of the traditional festival celebrations.
Shot handheld using my D750 and a 10 second exposure. The flashes of other peoples cameras create a nice effect by capturing the positions of the dancer as he completes his movements.
I wrote a little about the festival and what it was like to be there. You can find that essay here.
This photo was taken right before this dude punched me in the stomach and threw the typewriter out the window and it hit an Avon lady in the face.
