This is my current Linux desktop as of Sep '09.

The conky is a 3 part, that uses 4 different scripts to achieve the the full system, weather, and download status. I am running conky 1.7.1.1, and it uses conkyForcast, conkyDeluge, and conkyRhythmbox, all writen by the same person, for the obvious Now playing, weather, and torrent status. The email status is gmail.py script. That is really all I use for scripts, everything else is built right into conky. The wallpaper is self made from an svg i found online somewhere, though I dont remember where. The GTK them that can be seen the other desktop that looks like this one is also made by me, as is the Emerald theme.

I know this quote is by Thomas de Quincey (whoever he is) but it could have been writen by my cousin, Laurene. She's up visiting from Florida so today, I took her to my favorite farm/nature center. They were having their annual Harvest Festival. we both had a GREAT time there... as you can see, my cousin made friends with Lucky. but that's part of her character... Laurene's not Lucky's. Laurene has loved animals for as long as I can remember. When we were kids, she captured a chipmunk and wanted to bring it home to Florida.. I can't remember if she did. I'll have to find out. Now, she has a mini farm with chckens, goats and a horse named Colt. She's been missing Colt, so I'm sure Lucky helped to take her mind of Colt for a bit, wouldn't you say? :-)

Made to 1:50 scale, this was a pertinent choice for the Italian manufacturer in the 1970s. The box features artwork of an imaginary letter, writen by an Israeli tank crewman. It has individual metal link tracks and comes with a two-man mortar team. Polistil also made models of the American M60A1, Russian T62, British Mk3 Chieftain, German King Tiger and German Leopard.

This is Greg and he is one of the homeless community of Chelmsford in ESSEX

I have driven past him on many occasions whilst he sits with his belongings outside a currently un-used shop unit on Moulsham Street - its not uncommon to see him politely passing the time of day with shoppers. On a few occasions, including today, I have seen a small group of students from the local college sitting crossed-legged round him enjoying a laugh and a smoke whilst on the way to or from their studies.

During a break between customers I decided to go chat to him and see if he would be interested in being included in my 100 Strangers project.

I parked up in a side road opposite where he spends his days and wandered over - I introduced myself and explained my reason for being there - he seemed interested and agreed to me taking his picture, which I did, and we then chatted.......

Greg and he is 37 and was born and bred in South London.

He became homeless in 2009 when a decision to move back to Sweden went "pear-shaped" - he travelled to Stansted Airport and due to a "cock-up" on his part and a miss-understanding over money, was put on a bus that took him to Chelmsford where he has remained ever since.....

Initially Greg spent his nights in the Chelmsford CHESS Night Shelter but for various reasons decided to move out on Xmas Day 2009 - since then he has lived on the streets but maintains contact with the CHESS organisation and every two days visits their shelter for a shower and freshen up.

His daughter, whos name he prefered not to tell me, was born in London in 2000 and then moved to Sweden with her mother.

Greg met his daughers' mother when he worked in Sweden for about 7 years. During this time he worked for a company (TWR) as an engine and electrical engineer - TWR were responsible for producing the Renaul Clio V6 Sport. Greg has also worked as an engineer for Hallberg-Raccy who manafacture high-end Yachts.

During his time in Sweden, Greg obtained Swedish Citizenship and became fluent in Swedish (spoken and writen), as well as Norwegian, Danish and German.

He is currently unable to look for work due to health issues but this is being treated and he hopes to be able to get back into employment soon - he is a trained Electrical engineer but only has certification to the UK 16th Edition, the current requirements are for 17th Edition - unfortunately the Job Centre are "unwilling" to facilitate the upgrade of his certification.

We chatted for about 20 minutes and during this time it was clear that he is obviously a clever and very intelectual person who is polite and very easy to talk to - He doesn't appear bitter about his situation, and infact says that most of it is down to him "F***ing up" - it wasn't apparent if he was begging or not and I didn't ask - he did tell me though that he gets the odd sandwich from a couple of the local cafes in the street.

I really do hope he is able to sort things out and get back into the system and find work soon.

I thanked him for his time and gave him my card, however, he doesn't have access to a computer and asked if I would print out a copy of his picture along with this narative - obviously I agreed and will do so in the next couple of days.

Before he headed to Coalbrookdale, I took this one last shot of the Iron Bridge. Also somehow got a foreign car in the shot with Manx Grand Prix writen on it.
