This was two pices of chalk that happened to be in pink and blue. They were round to start with, not like a cylindrical tube of chalk that I might usually think to write on a blackboard or something. More like two round tablets on a log in the rain, and they were each one of them roughly the size of two Alka-Seltzer tablets stacked. Anyway, someone had left them behind to disintegrate on the log and be rained upon.

I cannot help it. I see art almost everywhere and every occasion. So this is my Sliders Sunday entry.

If anyone feels absolutely compelled to see what I started with, let me know, and maybe I'll feel like posting it. ;o)

your beloved body. day 12. my skin

I thought very much about which words I would write on my skin... there are so many things I would like (I would need) to read as reminders of the life I want to construct and fully live. My mind swung back and forth between many options, but finally I took the marker and wrote down this simple (yet according to my opinion) powerful statement: I am

Till it came to my mind, I hadn´t thought that this is surely the most significant affirmation I can pronounce. It reminds me the importance of being alive and tells me that life should be always cherished.

It also makes me think (believe) that being myself is enough. No matter if I am strong, curious, fearless, patient you name it (or maybe no), what really matters is that I am... I am a chance for life to reveal itself in an unique way.

If I wouldn´t have existed nothing would be the same because every single part of this universe has a reason for being, including me… including you.

This is part of an exhibit by Rudolf Stingel. People can stick things in or write on these aluminum foil-esque walls. I found his installations very interesting--a bit more than the actual photography exhibit going on now. :)

There are some things our kids do that, I believe, most adult would never do. Like the way Charlie goes down the stairs by sliding like superman down the banister. Or the way they walk into the house and SCREAM, "I"M HERE!" or when Meadow is eating ice cream and out of no where, spreads it all over her face, or when they randomly write on themselves.

It makes me wonder--when do we stop doing such things?

Or, is this just my kids?

Save papers.. write on Wall

"It's just so heartbreaking for me to see this because it's a bloody mess," Mayer told veteran Ottawa reporter Paul Wells, who writes independently for Substack, an American online platform. "It's an absolute mess. To put someone in charge to reinvent the National Gallery of Canada who's never worked in an art museum before ... is unconscionable."

Mayer is referring to Angela Cassie, who was named interim director after Sasha Suda left the gallery in July, three years into her five-year term, to take the top job at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Cassie had worked in increasingly senior posts at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg before coming to Ottawa last year as vice-president of strategic transformation and inclusion, a role that saw her oversee development of the gallery's new strategic plan.

Wells also reports sources as saying two unions at the gallery that represent the bulk of employees wrote to Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez in early November – before the four dismissals on Nov. 18 – expressing "alarm at the art museum's management culture."

Mayer has been posting images of historical works in the National Gallery's collection on his Instagram page for the last several days along with stories that pointedly underline the contributions of Stephen Gritt, former director of conservation and technical research, one of the four to be axed.

"Stephen Gritt, who I promoted to Director of Conservation and Research (Dr. Suda later demoted him), is a great loss to the National Gallery," Mayer writes on Instagram. "Having the largest public collection of European old masters in Canada, you might expect it to have a decent picture conservator. Until Angela Cassie let him go the other day by abolishing his position, it had one of the finest in the world."

In one post, Mayer tells the story of Titian's 1545 painting of Daniele Barbaro, a Venetian cleric, architect and scholar. It was kept in storage because European scholars many years earlier had declared it a studio copy of the original at the Prado in Madrid. But Gritt did more research, Mayer writes, comparing it to X-rays of other Titians, eventually proving the Ottawa version was the original. He then restored the painting and it was put back on public display.

Other Mayer stories centre on Gritt's work on Dead Christ with Angels, painted around 1563 by Veronese. Bought by the National Gallery in 1925, it was damaged in the hold of a leaky ship on its journey to Canada, whereupon it was declared "a dog's breakfast," Mayer writes. Restoration had been put off for almost a century, but Gritt was game and did the work. A third story revolves around Gritt's campaign to raise money for a new frame for The Death of General Wolfe, a 1770 painting by Benjamin West.

"Stephen Gritt is known for collegiality, generosity and good humour," Mayer writes on Instagram. "Oh, and for his T-shirts. My favourite is a Wu-Tang Clan parody of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon."

I thought I'd have time to find a good message to write on my skin. Last time I did this (can't link to it, it's part of the photos-which-will-not-be-available-until-I-go-pro) I used a very political passage from Winnie-the-Pooh. This time I decided to keep it simple and just go for some good ol' literature and after some browsing through some books (an hour before midnight) I found a sort of appropriate part of the intro to a Ray Bradbury book : The Illustrated Man. Next I just sat down, crossed my legs and wrote some words on skin for the roulette.

"Everything that happens and everything that befalls us has a meaning,

But it is often difficult to recognize it.

Also in the book of life every page has two sides:

We human beings fill the upper side with our plans, hopes, and wishes,

But Providence writes on the other side,

And what it ordains is seldom our goal."

Santa fulfilled his mission great!! This morning Miguel opening presents found the plasticine game to make pizza that I always wanted to have and never had :)) So I asked Miguel to write on his letter so we can play together... When he opened it I said "How nice Santa for having brought me the pizza game" and Miguel was shouting at that moment: "No, no, he brought it to me!!! " :))

By the way, the book on the floor I highly recommend it for your children. Miguel has already read it all today and had never heard him laugh so loudly. I have listened to him while reading and it is really funny for adults too or at least for me "Bad Guys" :)) www.aaronblabeybooks.com/books/bad-guys-episode-1 (we have it Spanish)

This shot was inspired by today's FGR pick of Interpreting Beatles songs. Paperback Writer is one of my favourite Beatles songs - it reminds me of going out in my younger days when I first met my husband as we used to love going to sixties nights. (Anyone in Birmingham remember The Ship Ashore - now demolished?)

This is a keepsake book I've just started for my daughter. I started to keep a notebook last year and didn't get round to keeping it up. I found this fab book recently which has photo pages and little pockets to put things in as well as lined pages to write on. It's perfect - especially as it's also black, silver and purple. I finally got round to writing in it today. Hopefully this will be a monthly thing and I can put my photo a week project of her in there too.

Also for Theme of the Week: Gratitude. Every day I am so grateful for the wonderful gift that is my daughter. She is a constant source of wonder to me and I am so grateful that she came into our lives. I want to remember all the little things that make her so special, hence the book.

Gospel Movie "God's Name Has Changed?!" (4) - Is Being Saved Equal to Being Purified?

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/movie-god-name-has-change...

Introduction

The Bible predicts, "I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God: and I will write on him my new name" (Revelation 3:12). "You shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Jehovah shall name" (Isaiah 62:2). In the last days, God appears to mankind by the name "Almighty God," does His work of judgment beginning with God's family and reveals His righteous, majestic and wrathful disposition. The significance of the name "Almighty God" is far-reaching; do you know what the significance of this name is? This video will give you the answer.

Storyline:

Her name is Wang Hua, and she is a house church preacher in Southern China. After she began to believe in the Lord, she found in the Bible that God was called Jehovah in the Old Testament, and was called Jesus in the New Testament. "Why does God have different names?" Wang Hua was extremely puzzled about this. She tried to find the answer in the Bible, but failed to grasp the mystery…. But she firmly believed that "There is none other name under heaven given among men, so Jesus alone is the Savior, and that so long as one held on to the name of Jesus, they would surely be raptured into the kingdom of heaven when the Lord comes again." Yet one day, Wang Hua heard some shocking news: "God's name has changed!" After that, her heart could no longer remain calm….

1/31 Items: Pencil(s)

This is for www.flickr.com/groups/itemcollab/

I should've uploaded it for the project yesterday, but I haven't been able to until now because of the ridiculous storms and power outages in my area.

When I think of a pencil, I think of my dad. He always always always has a pencil behind his ear. I started taking these and I had something completely different in mind, but I saw this little piece of hay and thought of how my dad used to take the pencil from behind his ear and write the number of bales on the side of the baler or truck each day after he was done putting in the hay. I guess I thought it was kind of cool that he would just write on things like that! Haha! So I had to switch my idea to this.

I hope everyone is safe and hasn't been too badly affected by the storms, heat, or fires!

Something I'm working on at the moment. Me and my girlfriend both put our heads together to create this idea and I thank her greatly because not only is she fine with me implying she's a whore, but I got my car stuck in mud whilst parking here and she pushed it out with me driving. I'm a lucky young man.

I also was using a new gel which I found under a load of camera related stuff in my room. It's a really dark blue and it's amazing. The colour in this photograph has not been photoshopped at all.

Hopefully I can persuade my girlfriend to freeze to death again so I can get the lighting better - but it was incredibly awkward to write on.
