I didn't do much on Friday other than work-gym-sleep, so I didn't feel inclined to take any photos. Saturday was a fun day - I went to an 'aye write!' event and then went to the pub where MrH was playing.
Aye Write is an annual book festival at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, bringing together international and local authors for a series of events to celebrate and promote reading, writing and stoytelling. I was at a storytelling event last night and thoroughly enjoyed it - it's a great oral tradition and one that I'm pleased to see growing in popularity. The library was jam-packed with people attending events and it was great to see and feel a vibrant buzz about the place. It was no surprise to meet a couple of my bookgroup chums there, both attending different events, so we had a quick chat about our events and then wandered off to soak up some of the atmosphere.
An aside - more than 20 years ago, when I was studying for my sixth year studies, I used to do a lot of my research in the Main Hall and loved spending time there. The hall is used for events now and although it's still a gorgeous hall and I've attended many great events in it, I still miss the smell of the books and the quietly studious atmosphere.
