Work continues in High Street Randwick.on the terminal stop for the Randwick Branch of the line.
Only short lengths of track remain to be laid, the platform canopy is well under way as are the electrics and a full complement of spanpoles now line the street.

100% isn't a bad score!
By my reckoning teams from Sydney Light Rail have now completed laying the tracks in Devonshire Street between Chalmers and Randle Streets and South Dowling Street.
The teams are now tidying up and commencing the task of re-laying the road surface and sorting out the kerb and guttering. No doubt spanpoles and overhead will follow.

Track laying continues between Parkham Place and South Dowling Street with the contractor laying reinforcing.

Rochester New York US Voter Block Neighborhood Cafe 1872 reopened this week. Today I stopped by and was surprised and impressed to see the spirit of community on view. The excitement was obvious in workers/ management and customers.
Cafe 1872 is in the midst of the Susan B Anthony - Voters Block Neighborhood. It sits on the site of the firehouse where Ms Anthony, as a woman, voted illegally.

Carlos is a friend and bartender of my regular breakfast place. Sadly, all my workteam are going to move to another place with myself. So I will miss him and his jokes. Hence this photo.
If you were near Barquillo street at Madrid, pay him a visit at Rocafria's cafe. Wonderful breakfast there, I promise.
Work team were employed to dig and use horse teams to construct the irrigation channel network from Glenmaggie Dam to the farms around the Maffra and Sale district. Known as the MacAlister Irrigation system. Built on the MacAlister River the dam was to supply sugar beet farmers in the Maffra area with water. Sugar beet was used to manufacture sugar. Once Federation occurred and Colonial boarder taxes were scrapped sugar was cheaper from Queensland sugar cane and the sugar beet industry was abandoned. The dam however still supplies farms in the area with irrigation water. This photo taken on Vance farm near Mewburn Park, Maffra about 1924. Photo from Vance family via Joan Laws.
