Blogged.

I'm doing a thing, where I'm trying to talk some people on ILX through my work process, so I'm documenting each stage of a drawing in turn. Apologies for the poor quality, this was taken with an iPhone in low light - the paper is actually white (or off white as it's an old sketchbook.)

This is the first stage, where I block everything out in pencil - usually with a grid in the background if I'm doing a human face, in order to figure out the proportions of things.

I can already see a load of errors - the eye on the left is slightly bigger and slightly lower in the face than the one on the right, once I've inked it and scanned it into photoshop, I will be more easily able to fix that, instead of doing either half of the drawing over from scratch.

An idea of what the mask will look like. Need to finish making the cheek/mouth shapes, add more to the ears, make the entire thing black and then add the feathers. But at least I have something to show! Kind of.

For the past year I've been telling my husband I need a secretary to help me with all the little details of running a small business. Although a kitten wasn't what I was originally looking for, I suppose she'll work out quite nicely. I now look forward to sharing my workload with her and will keep you updated on our daily business progress.

Technically I worked on these on the 27th, but the picture was taken today (the 29th).

Anyway, here we have a pair of my home cast wings, a Doll Love M K and a Doll Love YouYou. So much purple, good thing I love that color!

The M K head is almost complete, just need to detail that sucker. The YouYou still needs freckles everywhere on the face. And the wings need a couple more layers of different shades of purple. I'll have to get back to them on Monday because that's when I have time off again.
