....... especially when you're up all night decorating snowflake trees ! ;o)))
Never one to turn down a challenge ... ;o))) ..... this remark from vanessa-anne on my decorated "snowflake tree" photo ..... * Can you catch one of those fairies and glue it to a snowflake for your next cake? * got me thinking ........ could I catch one ?????
Luckily I stumbled upon this poor little fairy so exhausted from her night's work that she'd fallen asleep on a spare snowflake, bauble in hand ........ so I didn't have to catch her and glue her after all !
And if you believe that, you'll believe anything .............

Shizandra always put her whole self into ball playing. It's a very serious event for her.

I have travelled all my life but never before have I been in a country where the principal characteristic of the people seems to be their smile. Despite Laos poverty and isolation, its people were some of the kindest and most outgoing we've ever met. Its delightful old world charm has not been despoiled by the slow but steady pace of modernization. A number of kids played along the paddy fields greeted us. This sweet girl were taken care of her water buffalo while her parent working in the pdaddy fields. This is Laos, a land of ethnically diverse inhabitants but where gentle, open, beaming smiles surround you wherever you go. And never since my school days have I heard so much giggling, both in cities and in the countryside, as both young and old go about their daily activities. A naturally sweet nature seems to have survived centuries of fighting and turbulent change, while the results of the intense barrage of bombs and Agent Orange dropped on Laos during the Vietnam war still affects, in some way, almost every family in the country. To Westerners, with our grumbles and grouses about the slightest inconveniences to our lives, it is a revelation. Until recently Laos was an Asian backwater. When it opened its doors again to foreign visitors in the Nineties there were few modern amenities and no tourist infrastructure. Now this sleepy, rural land is waking up to tourism
Photo of a lovely girl taken on the island Don Det - Laos. The little island located in the Mekong river. While her father is ploughing in the rice fields and her mother transplanting rice seedlings this young girl taking care of her water buffalo. A great place to explore some of the lesser-known areas of the southern region of Laos. A place to meet the friendly Lao people despite their poverty and isolation. A place to meet Beauty and the Beast.
Not everyone was capable of carrying their own bags down several flights of stairs and across the pontoons to board the Century Diamond in the Yangtze River at Chongqing. Even if you were able and willing these "porters" were very aggressive about providing service - for a feee of course.
Dam they look like they are earning their keep.
Back on the ms Zaandam in Skagway Alaska and the ship is getting ready to cast off for the next leg of the journey to Tracy Arm and the Sawyer glaciers.
Goodbye Skagway!
Our Avalon tour visit to Cu Lao Gieng (January Island) is over and we are back at the Mekong River bank abroad a sampan watching an island ferry unload.
A cart full of likely rice was too heavy for the cart man to pull up the river bank road so ferry passengers jumped into action and gave the cart a boost up the incline.
Note the division of labor, Sarah does the detail work. Her clone lugs around water. And I stand back and take pictures. See? We all have our place!
Of course she might just be prepping for the day when she lets the clone touch her comic book collection. Yeah... for all our safety, we should probably start with something replaceable like water.
Yet another unplanned clone pic.
Lots on my plate these day, and Soleil was my helper yesterday, as I'm down-sizing my collection, hard to do, but a must!!!

Well, another Monday down and did we ever have the weather to match a Monday. Stormy skies threatened downtown for the majority of the day but did not open up while I was at work. This evening though, the weather couldn't decide just what to do. We've gone from heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning and high winds to calm and sunny. Strange mood Mother Nature is in today.
The wind was so high earlier this evening that it's actually knocked down part of my neighbour's tree, luckily though it fell in the yard and didn't manage to accomplish any damage. I've uploaded a photo of the fallen tree branch to the comments for curious minds.
Work was work, another day, another dollar as they say. I did get some good news while there, so that was a nice change of pace.
Hope your work week has started off well! Only four more days until Friday!

Farmer's Market -- Madison, Wisconsin
This project beings with a simple idea--to capture my experience in farmers' markets, which I had done some before. I don't know that it might lead me to eventually, but it inspires me to think about what Farmer's Markets mean to me through the lens.
