This is a photo of my husband sharpening the chainsaw blade, to me it shows that he works hard to take care of our family.

The living room. Can't tell we're both readers, or anything.

PIGEONS EXERCISE ROUTINE!

Darek & I attended the Twin Cities Pride Parade & Festival in Minneapolis today. It is normally the last Sunday of June but the date was moved up a week so people could attend next week-ends New York Pride celebrating 50 years since Stonewall. We even got to see Mel visiting from Portland and working at Lush.

The weather was a little bit drizzly and the humidity...well...We're in Minnesota. But it wasn't anything unpleasant.

This interesting bell contraption is on the wall inside my grandfathers house. I believe my uncle built it, and it's quite fascinating. If you look close, there are marbles on top that start the whole thing off, and it truely works, the end result a loud bell ring. He's so good with wood!

- yellow flag or just "Yellow":

"Look at the stars,

Look how they shine for you,

And everything you do

Yeah, they were all yellow.

I came along,

I wrote a song for you,

And all the things you do

And it was called "Yellow."

So then I took my turn,

Oh what a thing to've done,

And it was all yellow.

Your skin

Oh yeah, your skin and bones,

Turn into something beautiful,

Do you know?

You know I love you so,

You know I love you so.

I swam across,

I jumped across for you,

Oh what a thing to do.

Cos you were all yellow,

I drew a line,

I drew a line for you,

Oh what a thing to do,

And it was all yellow..."

Working on a big sewing machine like the one my mom uses is hard. In this photo she's cleaning out the bobbin housing because she forgot to take the bobbin out after the last time she used the machine. She told me that she needed to clean it out because the oil gets caked with dust and ruins the thread on the bobbin.

Enjoying my Flatiron worskstation for the next couple hours (this one's for you @workshifting) :)

I try to work one place a week that REALLY inspires me.

This is someone really close to me. I took this picture for work, but I noticed she wasn't working so I figured the picture would look better like this. Who wants to work right? I adjusted the contrast and exposure along with the saturation to get the picture looking the way that it looks because I wanted it to be really out there that she wasn't working. It reminds me of one of those commercials that advertise some kind of medication or something and it's reading off the side effects or something. I feel like this photo is something like that. Side effects of work include boredom, excessive use of cell phone, aching back, aching feet, etc. I think that this photo was one of the best ones that I took and mostly I think that because it is so personal to me. When people see this photo I want them to relate to it. Whether or not they like to work or not, I want them to think of their own time having to do yard work for their parents or for some extra cash or something.

A vendor on the last day of the season, at the 14th & U Farmers Market. Washington, DC.

Working 12 hour a day 6-to-6 was a horrible checklist in a man's list-to-do, few errands taken between platform and cabin that day, ended up with a song or two that night.
