This press is still in perfect working condition and this job shop, Raymond's, in the tiny town of Kamay (near Wichita Falls) is the most powerful for 400 miles. It can generate 600,000 TONS of force. A mishap can send a 500 lb projectile hundreds of yards. In 30 years Raymond's has never had such an event. This series is a tribute to the men who work with this monster on a daily basis. The concentration and precision they employ is impressive by any standard, yet they are oft referred to as "just" blue collar workers.
Metal worker at new Legco building #construction site……I read an article about the pay raise that the metal benders have gotten, they are the highest paid of all construction workers and make HK$1230/day. It’s a back-breaking job and half the workers are over 50. The pay raise was put in place to attract more workers who are younger and “the industry is in dire need of 1500 more workers”. I went in search of metal benders to see what they do, but haven’t found any yet. This man also works with metal, he was joining 2 pieces together, but not bending metal. #hongkong #workers #streetphotography #candid
