Memorial to the employees of Endicott Johnson, the largest employer of the area, who served in the World War I. It commemorates the 1,710 people who served in active duty, the 43 killed, the 141 wounded, as well as honoring those who contributed to the war by staying home and working.

Back in 2005 medical insurance was predominantly for city dwellers, covering only about a quarter of China’s population and 80% of all the medical facilities were based in urban areas. To offset this imbalance, China set out a five-year plan to rebuild the rural medical service system by supporting the construction of county-level hospitals, grassroots medical care institutions and village clinics. They also setup a new affordable rural healthcare insurance, all in all spending 1.13 trillion yuan over the last three years according to Vice Minister of Finance Wang Jun. On the left is an illustration that I did with copic markers (alcohol ink). The inspiration was from an old book on chocolate that I picked up from the library's used book sale. There are some really neat images in the book. I was thinking about the campaign and the war on workers when I did this page. The illustration on the right is a self-portrait that I did (obviously channeling Frida Kahlo) during the summer entirely with watercolor crayons.
