my first (and most likely last) wolverine, and he was awesome! i came around a corner and there he was just galloping up the road. sadly i only had my short lens on, so couldn't get a close shot, but i followed him up the road (what was that about harrassing wildlife?) shooting the whole way. he was running full tilt, but every once in a while would turn around and snarl at me. boy, was he pissed!

The wolverine is a powerful animal that resembles a small bear but is actually the largest member of the weasel family. These tough animals are usually solitary, and they need a lot of room to roam. Individual wolverines may travel 15 miles (24 kilometers) in a day in search of food. Because of these habitat requirements, wolverines frequent remote boreal forests, taiga, and tundra in the northern latitudes of Europe, Asia, and North America. Wolverines eat a bit of vegetarian fare, like plants and berries, in the summer season, but this does not make up a major part of their diet---they are tenacious predators with a taste for meat. Wolverines easily dispatch smaller prey, such as rabbits and rodents, but may even attack animals many times their size, such as caribou, if the prey appears to be weak or injured. These opportunistic eaters also feed on carrion--the corpses of larger mammals such as elk, deer, and caribou. Such finds sustain them in winter when other prey may be thinner on the ground, though they have also been known to dig into burrows and eat hibernating mammals.
Males scent-mark their territories, but they share them with several females and are believed to be polygamous. Females den in the snow or other available cover to give birth to two or three young each late winter or early spring. Kits sometimes live with their mother until they reach their own reproductive age--about two years old.
Other notable fact: Wolverines have been documented running grizzly bears off their prey kills. That shows a whole lot of moxie on their part!

Taken at Whipsnade Zoo. As with the Lynx, on all previous visits I have only ever caught a glimpse of this animal. Today however it was resting on this log in the open. Just look at those feet and claws, and a fair set of chompers too!
This wolverine has just caught sight of the keeper bringing meals-on-wheels, or quite possibly a tasty-looking toddler among the spectators.

Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig, Cairngorms
A first visit to the Highland Wildlife Park for over 30 years. My wife and I were members of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland way back when we lived in Edinburgh, even having part of our wedding reception in Edinburgh Zoo. It's great to be back.
Built for the "Wings of Justice" contest at FBTB. (i.e. build an aircraft inspired, and piloted, by a super hero)
I received the surfer minifig from a friend yesterday as a late Christmas present, and the first thing I saw was Wolverine. Then all the other pieces just sort of fell into place.
The Wolverine was one of my first AFVs and probably not my best; although I came up with some SNOT contruction for the top that I quite like, and I'm happy with the turret. I've never been quite satisfied with the front though.
The Wolverine is an anti-armor mobile missile launcher and basically a modified Wolf AFV. I'd like to build another MOC in arctic Camo some time soon.

Had a blast today at Comic-Con photographing the Marvel Cosplay Photo Shoot. This is Eric Von Sydow as a vicious and bloody Wolverine. He owned it!
