The lone wolf having earlier brought down and immobilised an elk was forced to retire due the volume of human interest. Following a patient wait for the human presence to diminish the predator returns to finish the job and take reward for his efforts.
Back in the spring we spent a day at the Wild Place Project, the successor to Bristol Zoo which closed earlier this year. The animals in the three photos today all live in a large woodland area (separated from one another, of course) and the path for visitors goes over the wood so you can look down and hope to see the animals. We did well, we did see a lynx as well but didn’t get a photo of it.

Wolf Dance was an acrylic painting that I created. It is part of a series of Werewolf pieces I am doing that shows them in my fantasy world of Grandilar, the background for Dragon Storm.

The Mexican Gray Wolf is still protected under the Endangered Species Act.
A few months ago one of the three wolves escaped from its pen, she was gone for 4 days and ran from Forest Lake, MN to New Brighton, MN (est. 20 miles) Once she was captured and retuned to the Wildlife Center she was vary weak and the other wolves in her pen senced that and they no longer welcomed her and they attacked her. This wolf was removed imidiatly and ended being relocaded to a zoo in Michigan.
Day spent at the Highland Wildlife Park watching the animals in the snowy environment they were designed for. Brilliant!
