Macro taken from an old rusty steel Tavern Puzzle. The ring to be removed is slightly under 3 inches in diameter. Another photo shows the entire sculpture. Great for fighting Covid19 boredom. This puzzle is "Wise Guy". Taken from: flic.kr/p/2k4esrt
I'll tell you little secret make you want to jump and shout
when you talk to me in circles take your foot out of your mouth
it's hard enough to make it when you're livin' on the street
and you want to tell somebody but you got to be discreet
then you catch your girlfriend with her skirt hiked up to here
honey, don't get mad, get even
don't get mad, get even
say the times they be a-changin' though the blind lead the blind you know your head is empty though there's somethin' on your mind
been shackin' up with Lucy, then when the morning comes
you're with Sally in the alley and the junkies and the bums
you wonder why your girlfriend has her skirt hiked up to here
honey, don't get mad, get even
Don't get mad, get even
(...'til I can see the white o' your eyes, baby...)
(...I'm gonna kick ass...)
(...just wait 'til you see what I got in store for you)
roll the dice get lucky 'cause they roll you for the dime
you got nothin' else to lose if you only lose your mind
when pleasure that is shallow causes trouble to be deep
you've been dusted with the devil while he sweeps you off your feet
I'll tell you little secret make you want to jump and shout
when you talk to me in circles take your foot out of your mouth
it's hard enough to make it when you're livin' on the street
and you hate to be a wiseguy when your feet are in concrete
oh, sleepin' with the dogs, and you wake up with the fleas
honey, don't get mad, get even
They looked so nice, still in velvet, in that pretty field with nice light. One giving the other the side eye and sticking out his tongue!

Meet the newest family on the beach and the teeny-tiniest shorebirds I have ever seen! These wee tufts of downy feathers hatched less than 24 hours before we had the great privilege to meet them. My friends, Robyn and Paul, have been checking on this nest for two weeks, expecting them to hatch any day. It wasn't until my full day on Long Island that their wish was granted. And how incredibly lucky I was to be there to see them! They hatched over night at some point on Thursday or early Friday morning. We found the nest empty Friday morning but the harsh wind was strong and these legged cotton balls were hidden, no doubt hunkering down away from the blast. However, the air calmed and we returned late afternoon. Approaching sunset these little peeps began flitting all over the beach, at one point, er, posing for a family photo. There's always one wiseguy! Best viewed full screen.

Oh, it happened again. I have just about had it with this dress. Vintage means old, you know. I thought it was repaired for good. I was at a party, and the men were saying nice things about my beautiful long legs and my black high heel shoes, and suddenly my dress split right open on me. Again. At least I was standing up this time. Oh well, nothing to do but smile like it's all a joke, hold my skirt together so it's stretched tight across my butt, and back out of the room. Some of the men laughed at me. Yeah, wiseguy, I hope you have a wardrobe malfunction yourself, and real soon.
I know a lot of you love this beautiful Asian dress with the pink and gold flower print, but this is the last time I'm wearing it, so help me.
"You know, we always called each other good fellas. Like you said to, uh, somebody, "You're gonna like this guy. He's all right. He's a good fella. He's one of us." You understand? We were good fellas. Wise guys."... ~ Henry Hill (Goodfellas)
We see these guys in the same spot almost every day of the week by our house, at the same time of day, and the same number gather daily to "hang out"... At least 50 feet up,... Its hilarious... you gotta be part of the "Family" to get a seat here I guess...
**Based on Creepella's original idea of calling them "Goombahs"... LOL!!
A Westie and a Schnauzer dressed like two Wise Guys and wearing sunglasses and suits
Prompt: An artwork of two dogs, one is a West Highland White Terrier and the other dog is a salt and pepper Schnauzer, dressed as mafia gangsters in pinstripe suits with white shirts and ties, wearing fedora hats and sunglasses and smoking cigars, Westie ears are perked up, against a dark background,

The 47th FS is unique in that it has maintained a tradition of naming aircraft after character's from Al Capp's "Li'l Abner" comics since WWII. Being unfamiliar with the comics, I looked up Eagle Eye Fleegle. Apparently he's some tiny little New York wiseguy-type who can shoot some sort of death-ray from his eyes. Apparently he calls this death-ray a 'whammy.' According to one write-up I found, 'a double whammy can make the stone head of Teddy Roosevelt on mount Rushmore weep."*
Pretty sure one burst of 30mm fire from the 'Hawg's GAU-8 cannon would have the same effect.

Tavern Puzzles are reproductions of a type of puzzle traditionally forged by blacksmiths to amuse their friends at country taverns and inns. Keeping with tradition, a museum-trained blacksmith from Long Island has reproduced some of these antique designs as well as his own original designs. All the puzzles are handcrafted and individually assembled. Each puzzle is mechanical in nature; removal of the object piece does not rely on force or trickery. This one is called "Wise Guy" and is considered intermediate difficulty. Just remove the ring... I have a dozen of them, one of which I have yet to solve.
You use force, you create fear. Fear destroys trust. Trust is the basis of harmony. The hardliner believes harmony and unity can be brought by force. That's totally unscientific, totally wrong.

So I am taking my obligatory grandma photos and I tell them to sit closer together. I said touch shoulders, meaning sit close together. So these wise guys touch shoulders! Gotta love 'em. This was at lunch after Stanley's middle school graduation. He was Valedictorian!
This is a shot from Artist's Road, a small circular 9 mile drive off of Badwater Road in Death Valley National Park not too far from Zabriskie Point.
Artist's Drive is a narrow paved one-way loop on which travel is possible south to north. Often the road bends sharply and crosses steep gullies, resulting in a rather tortuous journey with a top speed of only 15 mph, but this is a very rewarding trip with much unusual scenery, and particularly outstanding is Artist's Palette. The Palette is a stretch of the hillside composed of curved bands of clayish rock in vivid hues of green, white, pink, purple, and black. I joked that perhaps some wiseguys with paint literally painted the rocks. Well, the wiseguy was nature.
The vista here is the lower valley and the dried up lakebed and salt flats. It's amazing trying to imagine that millions of years ago, you had a huge lake here.
The watery paradise, now a desert paradise is what now greets the visitors to Death Valley. A misnomer as this land is not a valley of death but a valley of beauty.
Enjoy the middle of the week. Friday will be here soon and I'm six weeks away from my return to the Southwestern United States where I will follow the ancient spirits in the sacred rocks and bring them back to you to enjoy.
The wife and I have been recently enjoying a bunch of B&W movies from the 1940's and here's the result. I wanted a monochrome build with the bad guy lurking in the detectives office.
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Their distinctive raucous call can be very loud; it is meant to travel through the forest environments in which they live, including tropical and subtropical rainforests. These birds are naturally curious creatures, as well as very intelligent. They have adapted very well to European settlement in Australia and live in many urban areas.
These birds are very long lived, and can live upwards of 70 years in captivity, [citation needed] although they only live to about 20–40 years in the wild. They have been known to engage in geophagy, the process of eating clay to detoxify their food. Cockatoos also emit a very fine powder to waterproof themselves instead of oil as other creatures.
The Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca silenus) is an Old World monkey that lives only in the Western Ghats of South India.
Only approximately 2,500 of these animals live scattered over several areas in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The Lion-tailed Macaque ranks among the rarest and most threatened primates. Their range has become increasingly isolated and fragmented by the spread of agriculture and tea, coffee, teak and cinchona, construction of water reservoirs for irrigation and power generation, and human settlements to support such activities. They don't live, feed or travel through plantations. Destruction of their habitat and the fact that they avoid human proximity, has led to the drastic decrease of their population.
