Our thanks go to the Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation, Inc. for making it possible.

From the Gulf to the Seychelles 02.
A place we had spent some weekends at during our time in the Arabian Gulf was this ruined wireless station of WWII vintage. Anything of value had been stripped out, including the wooden window frames, but it gave us a chance to get off the ship. Offshore, there were lobsters among the rocks, and we improvised spears out of welding rods and went snorkling.
I never did find out where it was, apart from somewhere near the Strait of Hormuz.
We were about to sail across the Indian Ocean, and I was in trouble. Our captain loved to hear the BBC World Service news at eight o'clock each morning. I knew that reception was not possible in the south Indian Ocean, and not hearing the news would put him in a bad mood all day. So on the way out from UK I had recorded the news each morning as we sailed down the Atlantic, and cut and edited the tapes to make some fake news broadcasts to play as we sailed up the Indian Ocean. I had removed anything that might stick in the mind, just left the sort of mundane stuff you get in every news. Every morning in the Indian Ocean I would start the news tape precicely at 8am, so the pips were at exactly the right time, or the Captain might think his chronometer was wrong.
Now we were heading across the Indian Ocean again, and I would need those tapes again. But the reel to reel tape recorder had broken, it needed a part and I had no way of getting it.
This is how I spend three days per week now. Connected to a machine that cleans my blood. Thankfully I can bring my laptop and Telenor has been kind enough to supply me with a portable LTE wireless access point.
An interesting point is that the blood never comes into contact with the machine itself. It always flows inside the (disposable) tubes and the artificial kidney. This means some cleverness is necessary to pump the blood. This is done using a peristaltic pump. When I am done with my dialysis session, the nurse just rips out the tubing and throws it in the special yellow biohazard waste-bin. Then someone wipes the machine down, puts in a new set of tubes, and the machine is ready for the next patient.

Old telegraph poles line the former Rock Island Lines mainline and the transcontinental U.S. Highway 6 across Illinois.
I went to the Valdosta Country Club and had lunch with Jim. I ate 1/2 of a chicken salad fruit plate and ate the other 1/2 for supper.
Then I drove over to Publix to buy some groceries. I had found a new app for my iPhone and iPAD 2 - Ziplist. I was looking forward to using it. Well, I left my sunglasses on and forgot to get my reading/distance glasses and was too lazy to go back to the car for them. So I had to get close to my iPhone and squint to see my grocery list on "Ziplist."
Next month I am having cataract surgery on both eyes - one week apart. I'm getting the ReSTOR lens implants which are supposed to be for close-up and distance. I pray that my brain gets used to using them quickly. The research says that it could take up to 5 months to get used to them. I pray that my brain and eyes and new implants become friends ASAP.
It rained again; so, I didn't have water aerobics class and didn't get to have my first swim lesson with Laura.....since many months ago.
Jim and I watched another episode of "Single-Handed" on a Netflix DVD. I talked for awhile with my sister for the 3rd time this week. We're discussing Mother's physical and mental condition and what we can do to help.
