Filling the wire crib with corn. Remember a few times a raccoon would climb up the dump and fall into the crib overnight. We always tried to help them get out. Even if it meant dropping corn out the door onto the ground where we later (after the coon left the state) cleaned it up. You scattered and got inside a vehicle before they freed themselves.

For my final 3-d art project, I am making a sculpture that consists of eight wire birds. inside of them are wooden hearts with red strings wrapped around them.
I pulled an all nighter last night to finally finish them, and I really like how they turned out. At this point, I've been awake for about fifty hours.
I hope I will sleep tonight (although I am not sure I will)
Another reminder of war: a reconstructed part of the ‘Dodendraad’ (Wire of Death) near the Merkske stream. It was built by the Germans to separate occupied Belgium from the neutral Netherlands during World War I. The high voltage barrier killed many people.
I liked the way the barbed wire was wrapped around the gate pole and thought it might look quite nice against the sunset.
The electrical wires are attached to the buildings. They look really unsafe to me for some reason... Just like TOO close to the apartments...
(Nate, I took this one for you!)
Latest bit of trichinopoly, whipped up at work.
26g galvanized steel, single stitch, ~4mm diameter, ~18cm length with hand-coiled terminals, hook in eye.
This one was made up on a lark, something to just wear around. It's not reproduction, because, I mean, steel wire? Cha. For that reason, I went with the easier hook-in-eye clasp as opposed to the more period hook-in-hook.
Mainly, I wanted to see if the steel wire would work for the technique, and if galvanized steel wouldn't tarnish like every other metal I touch. Put some WD-40 on before and after working it, and so far, so good.
In an odd quirk of fate, this one proved the "linear stretch formula." The quirk? For every 1/64th of an inch the diameter was reduced, the chain lengthened almost exactly 2cm.
Copper-tone wire has been hand wire-wrapped with shimmery golden Czech glass crystals to natural brass chain.
