Wire Bridge, New Portland, Maine

This is an atypical photo for me! I don't like wires or pylons and I think they really spoil a photo. I went out of my way today to take a shot of something I would not usually appreciate and this is it! I thought the misty background was lovely and would do well without the pylons in it, but being Cheshire it was extremely flat! It is actually a line of lots of pylons, but I have lined them up, because I thought it looked nice and it hid a few of them!

WIRE 2016, Week of Innovative Regions in Europe 2016, hosted by Brainport region Eindhoven

Wired is an intricately detailed fabric collection which subtly moves from one surface texture to another through a carefully constructed mix of pile heights and handles. Some areas of the fabric surface are presented as all cut moquette and others in all loop to create a complex textural transport upholstery which combines both unique aesthetics and high performance.

The collection is designed around small scale textures and patterns with highlight accent colours of muted blues, greens, subdued orange and vivid red set against darker grey grounds. The design effects span illusory, graduated and delicate dappling to set a tone of poise and refinement.

All colourways in this range are available on a 6 - 8 week lead time with an MOQ of 300m.

Silver plated 0.4mm wire crocheted on a 3 ring pin. Silver and pearl white seed beads throughout wire, aqua cats eye beads and a sparkly focal bead!

I liked the way the barbed wire was wrapped around the gate pole and thought it might look quite nice against the sunset.

26g galvanized steel, single stitch, ~4mm diameter, ~18cm length with hand-coiled terminals, hook in eye.

This one was made up on a lark, something to just wear around. It's not reproduction, because, I mean, steel wire? Cha. For that reason, I went with the easier hook-in-eye clasp as opposed to the more period hook-in-hook.

Mainly, I wanted to see if the steel wire would work for the technique, and if galvanized steel wouldn't tarnish like every other metal I touch. Put some WD-40 on before and after working it, and so far, so good.

In an odd quirk of fate, this one proved the "linear stretch formula." The quirk? For every 1/64th of an inch the diameter was reduced, the chain lengthened almost exactly 2cm.

On WIRED use of the words "revolution" and "revolutionize" in headlines

For our tongue-in-cheek package on cheating, we broke a few rules ourselves. Most notably, we threw out our guidelines—and many of our own instincts—to create WIRED's version of a newsstand tabloid. The result is like the package itself: sarcastic, intriguing, and over-the-top audacious. Saturday Night Live's Bill Hader—as our guest expert—strikes just the right note of winking smugness.
