Icicles at the edge of the Dun Mountain Trail, mountain bike tracks in the snow, a glimpse of the top of Dun Mountain itself: cold, uninviting and yet compelling.
Found on a recent mtb trip over the local classic ride know locally as "The Coppermine" on account of the highest point of the Coppermine Saddle at 890m a.s.l. and a few hundred meters from this point. The Dun Mountain Trail follows the route of the old horse-drawn railway line initially created to extract minerals from the area in the late 1800's. What we get now is a wonderful recreational asset for walkers and mountain bikers who are willing to take on something demanding and wild. All within a few hours walk or ride from Nelson City in New Zealand's South Island.

Have never played with shooting snowflakes before...if is is calm and still tomorrow will try some more.....here is the first attempt.
Contrary to my bravado on Thursday's post about going to Snowdonia for some winter images, I decided that discretion was the better part of valour after spinning my car out on a snowdrift on the way home from work. The resultant damage to my front left wheel and steering may have only been minor but I decided it wasn't worth the risk of doing a 150 mile round trip in conditions that were unpredictable and potentially lethal. Instead, I resorted to my old haunt of the Peckforton Hills, and although not as dramatic as the mountains they did afford me the opportunity for some mini-landscapes. The weather here was very dull and overcast with a biting wind, also, the distance visibility was restricted due to a odd form of hail cum rain throughout the day. As the day wore on it became evident that a thaw had set in, even though the forecast I've just seen on TV has predicted yet more snow and freezing temperatures for the rest of the week, so there may yet be a chance for me to get over to Snowdonia next weekend! C'est la vie, eh!
Yep, better on Black! :-)

Yesterday (Monday) was a beautiful clear crisp winter's day; lovely light for taking photographs. Nothing but wind and rain today though.
A lovely quiet afternoon where only a 4x4 with Winter tyres can go. Kept missing Mark Denton who was around here somewhere! Backup again tomorrow with Stuart!
My cousin, a published poet, wrote a poem "Trees of Winter" shutteringexperiences.com/anecdotes/t-winters-sun.html
One of my favourite winter shots.
This photo was taken on Schliffkopf in black forest.
I´d like to tell something about me. I´m 16 years old and I love the nature. Landscape photography is a passion. I love it!

From a recent winter engagement session in Prince George British Columbia. We have always wanted to photograph a dancer, so were very excited when Jaclyn said she wanted to use her Pointe Shoes in their engagement session. We had an awesome time and can't wait for their wedding this summer.
You can see more photos from their engagement session on our Northern Pixel Photography Blog
