A look at snow on Mount Washington, a reminder that it's heading down into the valley soon.
Winter is coming.
When I opened the curtains this morning and it wasn't even light I knew this was going to be a wonderful day. I saw white frostlines in my garden on the edges of the plants I went outside. I didn't have much time because work was waiting

"Snow was falling, so much like stars filling the dark trees that one could easily imagine its reason for being was nothing more than prettiness."
— Mary Oliver.

There is always a long version in my stories😆;
It all started with my 4 kids, of course. Helping them keeping track of their childhoods memories, making nice albums with stories to go with the photos.
Then our dog Aiko came into our lives and Instagram became one of our daily habits. The idea was to let our grown up kids be a part of Aiko's life at home, via Instagram.
I soon realized that there was so much more to see on our hikes than Aiko's face 😄
So, I started photographing sunsets and landscapes and posted them on Aiko's account. Aiko's 5000 followers wasn't too happy about the change and I realized that I had to switch to another platform where I could be me, go with the flow, letting my artistic soul blossom and enjoy Norway's scenery and small wonders to its fullest.
I deleted all Aiko's followers in June 2017 (yes it took some days 😂) and started with Flickr on full time.
It is starting to get cold up here on the N.CA coast ! Found this at a second hand store. Score ! Processed with PSE 8

Foroq Tso, also known as Upper Kachura Lake, is a stunning, pristine alpine lake near Skardu in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, famous for its clear blue water, surrounding Karakoram peaks and apricot orchards.

This winter photograph captures my favorite maple tree as it stood many years ago. A soft layer of snow rests on its branches, and the muted light of the season surrounds it with a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. The subtle editing emphasizes the sadness I feel over its loss—this wonderful tree was cut down last year for reasons I still do not understand. The mood of the image gently echoes the reflective spirit of the early Advent season, combining winter’s stillness with a sense of longing and remembrance.
None of the last few shots were taken where I live. They were on our trip to Sault Ste. Marie, an hour and a half drive from here. We have a light covering of snow here.

It was cold enough that a light snowfall stuck around for a couple of days and shooting out my front window, everything was all sparkles. Tried a different way of editing an image this time - my Adobe subscription provides access to Photoshop Mix and Elements across mobile devices and used those instead. Not sure I like it (particularly dislike the stamp PS Express puts on the image) but it’s probably just a question of getting more familiar with their capabilities.
This is an older photo from a hike in South Tyrol. Today is the meteorological beginning of winter, so I thought it would fit quite well with the snow coming down the mountains....
Wishing everybody a wonderful winter ❄⛄ and a super summer ☀️😎 for the flickr friends on the southern hemisphere 😉

On the way up to a castle ruin a few years ago in November, I passed through a forest left entirely to itself. No tree is felled here, and fallen wood remains where it lies — nature is allowed to follow its own course. It is a wonderful, quiet place to pause in awe and simply enjoy. The autumn beech leaves add an extra touch of atmosphere to the scene.
