I love morning light through leaves, and especially these leaves which, against all the odds survive all winter.

Cutting and gathering wood is often better done in the winter for many reasons. But working with the extra clothing and through deep snow can be exhausting.

This was taken just north of Big Bear! I like the snow! It gets me into the winter mood! I used the HDR method on this photo! I sharpened it a bit and I reduced the noise in this photo! I took this out my window as Joe was driving! It was nice!
Taken in thick fog with a Sony DSC-F717 & Hoya R72 filter.

It's mid December and still snow hasn't been visiting.
We walked on the main shopping street and it was deadly freezing.
Just when the winter wind was threading all the way through my jacket to touch my growling belly :P
I suddenly thought of how querulous and ungrateful I've been sometimes.
It's here, it's true: a place to called home, every family meals, the warmth, the laughters, a job, been studying the thing I love
sometimes wanderers do get confused and tired, don't they?
Winter lies too long in country towns; hangs on until it is stale and shabby, old and sullen.
~Willa Cather
**the sky was really this monochrome, texture added to enhance the dreary effect
when winter is getting harsher, there is always a beautifu side waiting for us to be surprised. It's been too cold for days, I took a chance exploring while the sun looked too good to be true!

Taken last winter in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. Great place to take pictures but don't get your vehicle stuck there. A few minutes after this was taken I went into the ditch. There's no cell phone service so I had to wait until someone with a sat phone came by. A few hours and $700 later I was free. At least I got a fairly decent pic.
This is one of the trails my wife and I enjoy hiking on a nice, winter day. It's not far from home, and at least gives the illusion of getting away from it all and into nature.

This is what Gallagher Lake looks like today. Yesterday, there wasn't a white speck anywhere...at least not one made of snow. This freak storm blew in this morning and basically covered us with this rather thick heavy white blanket. I don't expect it will last as it is barely freezing out. It is just enough to make a mess but I will admit, it is pretty.
