Emperor Moth, found by Pete Cowper at Round Hill Nature Reserve...I wonder if indigenous folk from this area would have eaten this large moth?
On a recent trip to London I visited Kensal Green Cemetery, one of London's 'Magnificent Seven' suburban Victorian cemteries. It is indeed magnificent, and perhaps my favourtite so far (I've already visited Hampstead and Highgate... I guess I'll just have to visits the other 4 to complete the set now!
All of these photographs were shot on a Fujifilm XE-1 with a variety of classic Olympus Pen F lenses (but mostly the 40mm f/1.4).
Black and white just seems to suit the atmosphere of a tumble-down Vctorian cemetery like Kensal Green, and I used Silver FX Pro 2 for all but one of these photographs.
These swans liked to hang out in this old cornfield, but then leave in the evening time for a marsh a bit north of this. Definitely a light rain and foggy kind of day.

March 24, 2018 - I spent some time walking around one of the ponds at Luther Britt Park this morning while my wife was at work. I sat down to rest on a park bench. Turned and looked to my left and spotted a bird of prey. I believe this is an osprey, and he was snacking on something on this branch, presumably a fish. I watched him for probably 5 to 10 minutes before he flew to the other side of the pond.
I try not to do my bird photography in bright sunlight due to the harsh shadows, but this duck was just too cute to pass on. This is at Melody Lake in West Milford, New Jersey. Temperatures were in the low 40's F, or about 5 C.

Here are some more duck shots from Melody Lake. I took these a little later than the earlier photos, and when the ducks were more awake.
Eurocentric and Pacific mythological creatures at the Ellerslie International Flower Show, Christchurch March 8, 2013 NZ.
The 2013 show – running from 6-10 March at Christchurch’s North Hagley Park – has attracted high-quality, world-class gardens from a selection of top international exhibitors along with New Zealand’s best gardeners and designers.
The international award-winning garden by design duo Kamo and Ellis has been adapted and will provide the stunning setting for Johnny Fraser-Allen’s The Gloaming exhibition, curated and presented by Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger from Weta Workshop.
Fraser-Allen, a senior sculptor and conceptual designer at Weta Workshop, created the sculptures for the popular exhibition that ran in Wellington late last year. The sculptural portraits are based on Eurocentric and Pacific mythological creatures and will be located within the native bush garden.
“It’s exciting to be part of Ellerslie and quite a change for me. I already knew quite a lot about the show though as my mother and grandmother live in Christchurch and go along every year to check it out,” Fraser-Allen says.

I encountered this lovely grotesque (gargoyle without a water spout) at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington DC. Poor guy..."envy" is engraved near the bottom of him, but what else could that expression be?
I have an awful lot to learn yet about Photoshop Elements. This is an attempt at using layer masks and vignetting. I'm using the mouse, but someone told me I should look into a tablet for the input. Any suggestions about tablets as the mouse does seem that comfortable to use for fine detail work.
I shot this little booger next to the reflection pool at The Cove at Pine Mountain State Park in Pinville, Ky. on my oldest daughter's wedding day last month. They were flying around all afternoon.
Unusual looking creature found last month. The unidentifiable creature is like something out of a horror movie.
My wife and I went for walk around the pond at Continental Soldiers Park in Mahwah, New Jersey. We spotted this magnificent bird, and of course he took off after a few shots, but I found it again on the other side of the pond for the other two shots. I did not have on the real long lens, so I had to sneak up as close as I dared without alarming it. Pretty satisfied with the end results. Thank you to Maricelli63 for helping me to correctly identify this beautiful bird.
I could not resist grabbing the camera when my wife told me there were butterflies on the flowers! These two were moving about very quickly, so I was happy to grab these shots! Have a great weekend everyone!
Caught up by two SB800 speed-lights activated via infrared transmitter that is fastened to the camera and set in remote mode, this modern-day fairy gleefully wandered around her magical garden when this picture was taken.
Capturing fairies at twilight time is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They are so moody, volatile and extremely shy. My son was just so lucky to have this particular shot done nicely... Few seconds later, she disappears into the darkness.
The flowerer below sparkles even more with the help of CTO gel attached right in-front of the strobes.

I'm not sure if this is a Turtle Dove, so all you bird lovers, let me know so that I can label this correctly. There were two of them, but I had to shoot through the glass doors and got too much glare, so fort his shot I opened the door just enough to take the shot. But my dog got out and scared them off.
Two images, one of swans, one of trees and water and grasses at Finley Wildlife Refuge. I took both with a Sony Mavica Camera and tried to blend them together just for the learning experience of it. I gave the picture a technique that was called "minimum" on the ArcSoft 2 program I used at the time.

My wife spotted a photo op for me, this resting moth. They like to rest on the storm door glass overnight, so this is with flash. Hope you like!

Happy Bokeh Thursday, Chad.
Seems to me that it'd be cool to have wings and fly around everywhere. But since these guys get to live for 24 hours, and croak, I think I'll remain in my current wingless stature...
Hardly seems like a good trade-off.
