it's cold outside. i'd rather stay inside for a long exposure in this weather. this one was 2 hours

I'm pretty impressed with myself, it took a lot of tries with the old manual lens for even one shot to come out in focus. I ended up liking the very strange crop on this. I cropped off the top of the photo because my head looked weird but other than that it's straight out of camera. I am loving that lens, have I mentioned that lately? :)

If I had to choose one word to describe how I see light when I photograph, it would be the wonderful Italian word: chiaroscuro.

The contrast of lights and darks helps give form to a two-dimensional medium, and what can I say? I'm a contrast-y kind of girl.

Whether I'm using studio lights in my studio, or using the big studio light in the sky, I love love love to create dark, moody evocative images by letting the light just highlight the dark of my subject.

Tonight, by windowlight.

This is all that remains of the ghost town of "New" Lycan. Originally called Buckeye, this town started as a store just west of the Kansas boarder. When the Lycan post office moved here in 1936, the town took on the name Lycan. But the post office and all its residents are now long gone. A couple buildings remain, making this a true ghost town.

The original townsite of Lycan(aka Old Lycan) lies about seven miles northwest of here.

another week done :)

Have to give my friend Aimee credit for the idea. ;)

edited this one, Idk if i like it, may delete and re-upload...

Its funny, with my point in shoot taking 130 photos would take me FOREVER, now with my DSLR it takes me like 10 minuets.
