The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is native to North America and is the heaviest member of the Galliformes. It is one of two species of turkey, the other being the Ocellated Turkey, found in Central and South America. Adult Wild Turkeys have a small, featherless, bluish head; a red throat in males; long reddish-orange to greyish-blue legs; and a dark-brown to black body. The head has fleshy growths called caruncles; in excited turkeys, a fleshy flap on the bill expands, becoming engorged with blood. Males have red wattles on the throat and neck. Each foot has four toes, and males have rear spurs on their lower legs.
For Our Daily Challenge "wild goose chase". I had no idea what to shoot, apart from wild magpie geese! (Which I chased around for a while to get a close enough shot of them).
These guys bombard the top end during the wet season, grazing on local grassy areas. In the dry season, they congregate mainly around billabongs and wetlands, but as we are now in wet season, and everything is wet and green, they can be seen all through the suburbs of Darwin.
Cliff trails at Wilder Ranch State Park, Santa Cruz, CA. I don't usually ride these trails, but I was lazy this day and headed out there for the sunset.
It's turkey mating time. All around the San Francisco bay area the flocks of turkeys are doing their thing. It is so weird to hear them drag their wings against the ground on the pavement when the cross the road. Bill Walker and I watched two tom turkeys line up side to side, wing to wing, and strut a line, heads turned, staring eye to eye - the loser ran away, the winner kept the nearby female. I haven't seen an actual spur fight, but I think I'm going to keep my eyes open next Tuesday - by end of April the females will have disappeared to nest.
Oman is an underwater paradise.
Its warm, clear waters are the year-round playground of whales and dolphins.
Its idyllic beaches are important nesting grounds for five species of sea turtles …
… with as many as 20,000 Green Turtles and 30,000 Loggerhead Turtles returning each year to lay their eggs on Oman’s protected shores.
Dazzling coral reefs, just a short swim from shore, teem with an abundance of rare and colourful marine life …
… and make Oman an irresistible destination for those who love undersea adventure.
Come to Oman and dive into a whole new world …
This past cold season was extremely windy . . tore off the other half of this dead tree revealing a Wild Honeybee Hive full of honey comb.
I'm a lean dog, a keen dog, a wild dog, and lone;
I'm a rough dog, a tough dog, hunting on my own;
I'm a bad dog, a mad dog, teasing silly sheep;
I love to sit and bay the moon, to keep fat souls from sleep;
I'll never be a lap dog, licking dirty feet.

Constructive criticism welcome on photography
OK, so maybe feral is a better word than wild. Every island we were on had chickens running wild. I asked a native about them, could somebody just conk one of the head and have it for dinner? He told me that they were pretty gamey, he would gut them and put them in a bag with a fresh papaya cut into chunks for 24 hours and THEN you could grill it.
I have wild white and red roses growing out out of the rocks and brush just above the lakefront...the white ones smell incredibly delicious!

Wild roses on our property, shot with my old Polaroid SLR 680 and new PX 680 Color Shade film from The Impossible Project.
This wild boar was in one of our pastures, and had tried to attack my husband once before. He weighs in at aprox 500 lbs. Definately not something you would want to dance with.
This was my FIRST time seeing wild horses and I fell in LOVE with this little foal.
