Wild rhododendrons grow near old-growth redwoods. Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Humboldt County, California
This was taken near the Heard Nature Center in Fairview, Texas, just south of McKinney. We had no idea this place existed, just stumbling on it, but they actually have dinosaur bones there. We'll go back and give a proper visit someday, as my wife's broken foot prevented us from exploring the place.
This was a wild sunflower growing there, one of my favorite flowers.
Continuation of the Cumberland Island kayaking / hiking / camping trip... one of the many wild horses that lies on the Island :)
On the beach they would avoid you, and even walk away, but here under the trees I could approach them without any problem, they would just look at me and go back to eating :)

Wild fennel grows everywhere in this section of Fort Ord. It's very aromatic, which was lucky for us, because we held bunches of it up to our noses to ward off the absolutely nauseating smell of the dogs, who managed, within seconds of our arrival, to roll in something that smelled like the bowels of hell.

I have had this image confirmed as a Chiffchaff, making it my best Chiffchaff to date. Taken from the hide at Lochwinnoch where i hadnt been for many many months now. A very nice return for me.
Isn't it cute? I hope we do an October function here (actually in their downstairs lounge/ wine vault/ dining room).

When photographing wild mustangs, you always hope that they'll suddenly rear up dramatically, hooves churning the air and nostrils flaring. In reality, they tend to just have staring contests with boulders.

The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is native to North America and is the heaviest member of the Galliformes. It is one of two species of turkey, the other being the Ocellated Turkey, found in Central and South America. Adult Wild Turkeys have a small, featherless, bluish head; a red throat in males; long reddish-orange to greyish-blue legs; and a dark-brown to black body. The head has fleshy growths called caruncles; in excited turkeys, a fleshy flap on the bill expands, becoming engorged with blood. Males have red wattles on the throat and neck. Each foot has four toes, and males have rear spurs on their lower legs.
For Our Daily Challenge "wild goose chase". I had no idea what to shoot, apart from wild magpie geese! (Which I chased around for a while to get a close enough shot of them).
These guys bombard the top end during the wet season, grazing on local grassy areas. In the dry season, they congregate mainly around billabongs and wetlands, but as we are now in wet season, and everything is wet and green, they can be seen all through the suburbs of Darwin.
While driving to the Poinsett Bridge, we passed a dozen large turkeys (Eastern Wild Turkeys) gathering next to the road. We stopped just down the road, and quickly grabbed our cameras. By the time we got close to the gathering spot, they were beginning to spook. I managed to grab a few shots before they crossed the road and disappeared into the woods. I'm no Jim Ridley, but I'm satisfied with these shots. It was a fun surprise...
I've been a fan of wild goose chase's stream for some time.
Her still life photos are such an inspiration to me. I love the artistic ideas and unusual compositions and combinations.
