Why bother I wonder shooting film when becomes a digital jpeg after all?
The prints are so much better than the CD scans. Keepers are few, and gems fewer even with prints.
Just must, I suppose.
I keep asking myself this question in 2023. In addition to the desolation, the heavy winds were bitterly cold.
I had a pretty good day, nonetheless, photographing rural dilapidation but only saw two Snowy Owls.

Heading back to February of this year when I took a trip out to Vegas for our @photofocus writer's retreat and one morning when we headed out to Black Velvet Canyon for some photography therapy. Morning sun makes for great backlight and well nature takes care of the shapes of things.
As seen on the lower left of the bridge abutment; BECAUSE it's 1309!!! The Frostburg Flyer lead by 1309 crosses the potomac enroute to the Cumberland Station to pick up passengers for the run up to Frostburg, Md.
(No. 1) No need to ask why, just do it.
(No. 2) You did the crime, you do the time.

The Inca, or Mexican, Dove can be found in the Southwest US, but it is mainly a bird of Mexico and Central America (but not of South America). One proposal is that the original identifier, a French ornithologist, may have confused Inca (who lived in SA) with Aztec (who lived in Mexico).

I think it's true to say that I have loved every single piece of work Amanda Newman has done in Melbourne, but I think this new one might just be my favourite.
So beautiful, and so powerful.
Amanda says of the mural,
"The Earth has been warning us for a long time. Our children are listening but by the time they are old enough to do something about it, it may be too late.
Why do we ignore our planet and the children who will inherit it?
For Through The Lens 52-week challenge week 30 theme of "If Only" I say, "If only we were listening".
We spent the last September weekend at Balls 29, a big experimental rocket launch event in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada - the same place where Burning Man takes place. We camped in the middle of the playa (dry lakebed). At sunset we drove to the Mad Max camp at the edge of the playa -- see other posts on that.
I processed a realistic, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

... to Florida in the winter. The "snowbirds" are pouring in, a million strong - it's not only the avian birds who flock to Florida every January. Interestingly there's also another demographic group called by researchers the "sunbirds" - Florida residents who escape to the north during the steamy months of July, August and September. As in nature....
try HDR in b/w when black and white are the dominant colours ?
This weekend started in East-Westphalia with heavy snowfalls already on early Friday morning, causing massive problems on the roads. The mild temperatures in the afternoon and early Saturday melted away most of the snow, so we had to speed up to get some Winter shots in the spa gardens of Bad Oeynhausen.
Bad Oeynhausen is a nice little town in East Westphalia, famous as a spa centre for more than a century. My favourite place in town is the Kurpark (spa gardens) with beautiful garden architecture and historical buildings of the early days of the spa era.
