I want to say that I admire all the parents. This is a great effort to say 'no' to a child when you are seeing his sad face. Sometimes this "no" is necessary for kid's good.

I don't know if I will have my own family... It's great to live for somebody... God knows.

Now my holidays are ending... I'll have kids at school. 18 children... Big family ;)

Why work feels constricting....

Call my baby lollipop

Tell you why

His kiss is sweeter than an apple pie

And when he does his shaky rockin' dance

Man, I haven't got a chance

I call him, lollipop, lollipop

Oh lolli lolli lolli, lollipop, lollipop

Oh lolli lolli lolli, lollipop, lollipop

Oh lolli lolli lolli, lollipop

Sweeter than candy on a stick

Huckleberry, cherry or lime

If you had a choice he'd be your pick

But lollipop is mine

OK, it's an infrared photo. No artificial light, just the one coming through the window. I have even gone to the limits of what you can technically do with a screw-on IR filter (portrait photo for example). Yes, it's possible. And yes, green leaves are standing out and the whole image gets this unusual appearance. And beyond that? I am still struggling with the 'photographic identity' of IR. Fuji X-Pro1.

Sitting atop Mt Belford (14,203’) taking in the view with Missouri Mountain (14,074’) in the background is the reason I cannot wait each year for the high country to become accessible.

The cygnets look almost pink, where their grey feathers are turning white.

The most striking feature that everyone most often sees on a Ring-necked Duck is the white ring on its beak and not the ring on its neck that gave its name. The cinnamon colored ring on the neck is not always visible and the sun has to shine in a particular angle to make it so. People sometime wonder why is it called Ring-necked when the ring is clearly on its beak. This photo was taken in 2014 when the entire marina was frozen solid except for one little area at the entrance of the dock which was kept ice free and the duck was actively feeding in the area. ME:

Peter...why do you look so sad?

PETER:

Well...I'm not feeling very well.

ME:

Do you have a stomachache or a headache or something else?

PETER:

No, but...but...I feel so lonely.

Everyone is at Paddy's birthday party and I'm not.

And...and I have a present for Paddy. I want to give Paddy my prettiest marble and I would like a piece of that cake and I would like to see my very best friend Scout and my dearest princess Rosie and Nanuk and...

ME:

Wait a minute, Peter.

Are you a little jealous of Oleg because he's at his best friend's birthday party and you're not?

PETER:

Jealous? No, not at all. I wish Oleg and Paddy a happy birthday and hope they get to eat lots of cake until they feel sick.

ME:

Until they feel sick? That's not very nice to say, Peter.

By the way, you went to your best friend Scout's birthday party and Oleg wasn't there. He was happy that you and Scout were having such a good time.

Let Oleg enjoy this time with his great friend.

Come on...let's do something fun together.

How about we play marbles together?

There are lots of them in the attic.

PETER:

Oh...yes, Mummy Marian...that sounds like fun.

The Netflix drama “13 Reasons Why” is filmed, in part, down the road a couple of miles where I used to live - in the city of Vallejo, California.

As the signs in the window indicate, this is a film set and it is a “FAKE PHARMACY.” There is a real pharmacy close by on the same street in an equally charming old building – causing no end of confusion for residents and visitors alike. I guess someone hoped some signage would help.

We’re Here! -- The "Film & Television" Café.

Taken while on a stroll in Nijmegen, The Netherlands down by the Waal with a Hawkings plastic super crappy camera on BGC PHC-50 high contrast film.

When he was younger, our son was afraid to step over the threshold to go outdoors. At the time, we did not know about his autism, that diagnosis came later. Try as we might, he would always resist going out and to see what the world had to offer. He was afraid. In time we learned that his fears were based in the uncertainty of what was out there. Home was his safe area. He could relax. Everything was in its place.

To help him, I encouraged him to look out through the window. His window. It was safe looking out from indoors and when he felt unwell through the many, many seizures he is tormented by, just getting to the window is a major effort for him. Through the window was a world he could familiarise himself with.

Supported by myself to point out the various aspects of our garden, or nearby landmarks which were visible, his confidence grew. Familiarity of what he saw became routine. This accepted routine enabled the next step, to cross the threshold.

Encouraged to use my old camera, our son eagerly took pictures from his bedroom window, or the living room window and we ventured into the garden to look at what he had pictured up close. A new world opened up to him. Gradually we ventured further and pictured all that we saw.

‘Marc’s Window’ has become an intervention to help our son overcome both fears and pain and help focus his mind to prevent it searching out those dark places.

This success I share as it may just help someone have a similar idea.

Why bother replacing a fence if you can just add a few new posts? This photo was taken last November before the first snowstorm. HFF
