Lalique, René (Jules)
(born April 6, 1860, Ay, Fr.-died May 5, 1945, Paris) French
jeweler and glassmaker. Trained in Paris and London, he
opened his own firm in Paris in 1885 and soon acquired
clients such as Sarah Bernhardt. Reacting against
machine-produced jewelry featuring precious gems, he
designed elegant and fantastic jewelry with less
conventional gemstones (tourmaline, cornelian, etc.) and
materials such as horn.
His designs contributed significantly to the Art Nouveau
movement and later the Art Deco
movement. His interest in architectural glass led him to
develop the style of molded glass for which he is famous,
characterized by iced surfaces, elaborate patterns in
relief, and occasionally applied or inlaid colour.

5d3 with 85 f/1.8 at 1.8, ISO 800, 1/60 sec, Jpeg, wb set on flash. I shot some photos around her, not so much for the "bokehrama" look but more to be able to use a phase AF sensor without focus-and-recompose and yet have the view that I wanted.
to be sure i had no plans to shoot today somedays just need to take a break from the camera and well this morning, there the Persian Silk tree these will continue to open until our early winter time. so bright and beautiful just couldn't resist, best for your day!

This is not by any means a "staged shot", and I had plenty of this to choose from. I may have just given this bottle a nudge with my boot, for the purposes of composition. Like you do...
River Thames near Tilbury, Essex, England
Falls Creek is located in the Three Sisters Wilderness of the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains.
It can be followed from a trailhead off the Cascades Lakes Scenic Byway.
This picture suggests the source of the name of this beautiful creek.
I did follow the right train! A pair of Bayline unit made it an easy choice for an all day chaser. A bit later in the morning we see GSWR CAT-04 (Cuthbert to Albany turn) rolling through the photogenic small town of Shellman, GA.
Today I was thinking of the theme for Flickr Friday so I took a shot of my home office window looking out and then abstracted the photo........WHY NOT????

Or the question may be: why do we want to shoot anything in B&W?
This is an archive shot from my Hong Kong trip. I took the picture at China Hong Kong City after sunset. I have several colour compositions and I choose to do this in B&W.

Lower Saxony - Göhrde
The Göhrde is the largest contiguous mixed forest area in northern Germany. Here you can get to know a natural area that is unique in its own special way. The Göhrde state forest is an impressive woodland area and its core areas are covered with very old trees.
Also known for the Göhrde murders.
It used to be the hunting ground of the Dukes of Brunswick and Lüneberg and later, the Kings of Hanover and the German Emperor. At the time of the murders the forest stood close to West Germany's border with East Germany.
Also the E6 is on the route.
The E6 European long-distance hiking trail is part of the European hiking trail network and runs from Kilpisjärvi in north-western Finland to the Dardanelles in Turkey. The total length is 6030 kilometers.
Aerial view of interesting abstract patterns in a harvested rice field in the northern Sacramento Valley near Williams, California.
This is the second time I've found amazing patterns in harvested rice fields. The previous time was in flooded rice fields much closer to Sacramento near Davis, California (see first comment, below).
If anyone knows why this occurs, I'd love to hear an explanation.

I have to apologise for yet another shot of these trees!
Last week I made the journey to Colliford Lake with Shaun as he’s not been there for a while, and wow… how things have changed. On my first visit there this year only the tips of the tallest trees were visible in the lake, now some of the trees are completely out of the water so that’s a water level drop of at least 8 feet (and I feel that’s quite a conservative estimate)… we really do need some rain.
I was looking for a different angle to what I’d shot before so I decided to shoot down one of the rows, to show the symmetry of how the trees were planted.
I've been missing the pull of sunsets recently, and I thought I'd show one from earlier in the year as i'm waiting for my camera to dry out ( hopefully! ). The first title that jumped out at me was this Arctic Monkeys song, Why d'you only call me when you're high. I think the sun calls me most evenings, but when it's losing height.
