The first design. At first I was going to go red and blue, but I found I liked the whitespace design more.

Feather de-saturated and fractaliused in photoshop for this week's #FlickrFriday #WhiteSpace

Dear Wordpress, this is a ridiculous workaround. I would most appreciate it if one of the many selfless volunteers who make wordpress could figure out a way for me to insert line breaks and create white space in my blog, and liberate me from having to bring in stupid white space line breaks from Flickr! Thank you!

I was going to skip the challenge today because I couldn't get my head wrapped around the challenge, Photoshop Terms.

We have had a foreign exchange visiting this week while his host family was away on holiday. We found out he hasn't seen many sights. So I decided he needs to see a beautiful lake covered in snow and ice. I think Lake Winnipeg is the best lake in the province. He was impressed, too bad no swimming today.

When I got home tonight, I found this shot and thought white space, luckily it's a photoshop term.

Blog design for my very favorite photographer (Also designed her logo and website - although she laid out lots of the pages according to the concept herself). Business cards coming up, soon!

See her awesome work at:

I used this image as part of a post on Blogussion. I discussed the concepts of whitespace, navigation, eye tracking, and color.

I watched Tim Burton's "9" today. AWESOME!!!!! i LOVED IT.

I think i will also go and watch his alice and wonderland remake.

I am of course suppose to be alice.

OMG the greatest thing happened to me today!!!!

Arno Rafael Minkkinen e-mailed me back!!!!!!! and actually gave me advice. <3<3<3

I emailed him about how to shoot his photos and how I was going to tribute him and he told me that growing is not about emulating anyone else, it is about finding what is missing and place it in there. and that ladies and gentlemen, is how you learn. and the art becomes your own. (summarized of course!)

my teacher was floored when I told him I emailed Mr. Minkkinen. We were only suppose to do basic research, but I really wanted to get technical about it and emailed Mr. Minkkinen about how he shot his photos. (trial and error he told me! XD) Of course, I was running a chance, I went onto his website, noticed that he didnt have anything posted after 2001, and HOPED to GOD that he wasnt dead and that his email worked, so I emailed him. and guess what a great guy he was..... HE EMAILED ME BACK in a timely fashion! within 3 hours. what a guy!

I am so excited, I am going to compile a good reply and send it to him tomorrow morning. I totally believe that an artist of his magnitude deserves a real email and not one "sent from my verizon wireless blackberry phone"

(everyone else, yeah its just convenience i still <3 you all)

OMG i am so happy!!

Finally got around to seeing the doctor for an allergy medicine refill. After about an hour at the hospital, we finished and headed for the elevator. On the way, I saw this unused space with great lighting, so we stopped off for a few shots before heading home.

Just a little frog i've thrown together. Really wanted to do an image with lots of white space.

Claire's silly side. From a client shoot earlier this year.

My wife keeps her desk pretty clean. I'm trying to practice photography in a semi-unconventional way, in that I want to photograph things as they are. A lot of times, with still life, we manipulate light, change positioning, and try to get everything lined up for our view point.

Instead, in order to make a photo of something as simple as paintbrushes in a jar, I wanted to change my viewpoint to create something visually interesting, using lots of negative space and lines.

The make-up artist, who also doubled as the director, told me that this actor was slowly turning yellow! Each day, more and more of the make-up was staying on and couldn't be washed off. Talk about dedication!
