This was taken mere seconds before I walked out of this building as an employee for the final time.

In October, the company who had employed me for over 17 years informed me that the department for which I had worked that entire time would be outsourced to a company in Nashville, Tennessee effective January 1, 2014.

The months of October, November and December were spent alongside my long-time colleagues and friends assisting in the transition to the new company.

This day, I was the last one out of the building of only a very few who came in on a day that was officially a holiday.

I gathered the last few personal items from my area, put my key on my boss's desk, turned out the lights, locked the door and walked through the dark and cold of the lonely parking lot to the only car remaining in the lot.

Darn near poetic.

I am not quite sure what's next for me. I know I'll be OK, but I don't adjust well to change. I tend to be content and loyal. Risk-averse, some would say.

Still, there is a part of me that is looking forward to the adventure of something new.

I'll just feel better when I know what that "something new" is going to be.

White Space (compare to this shot).

I had something completely different for today (for TRP's Whitespace Wednesday--I still might get around to posting something) but then there was this amazing rain combined with sunshine and I just had to play it.

The weather today was so crazy. It was cloudy with the sun trying to come out, then rainy, then not rainy, then rainy and the sunny. And it was really warm and humid all day, which I love. It's the second day of fall but the weather was totally summery. That made me happy. :) <3

we're here: white space wednesday

this turned out much creepier than I imagined. I'm a bit busy at the moment, catch up soon.

Well, I had other ideas, but I couldn't *not* post a shot like this since we're smack dab in the middle of the biggest winter event of recent memory and the SPC theme is still 'White Space' (for a few more minutes, at least).

I spent today (Sunday) shoveling the drive so Christy could get to work. Helping Christy get the van unstuck a few times from the alley we use to access our drive as she was leaving for work. Shoveling the drive again because it looked like I *hadn't* by the time I finished those things. Shoveling the alley in front of our drive so when she comes home tomorrow (hopefully) she might not have as much trouble then as she had today. Shoveling the front walk because I suspect she may have to park on the street instead of risking getting stuck navigating the alley. Somewhere in there, I helped the kids build a snowman.

Whitespace is a powerful design tool.

I used this image on Blogussion

The logos have been developed by Edinburgh-based digital firm Whitespace, which has been responsible for designs used by Tennent’s Lager, Highland Spring and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The images will appear on the front of each of the 27 trams below the driver’s window and also on the side of several carriages.

Leaflets, timetables and even Ridacards are eventually expected to carry the new designs. The logos will also appear on the new travel shop being opened on Waverley Bridge.

The branding is based on a round circle that contains a simple interconnecting route map.

It has been billed as showcasing the “interchange terminals of passengers and the strategic approach of collaboration between modes of transport within the Transport for Edinburgh family”.

Madder – a deep reddish, purple colour – will feature in all the logos. Transport leaders wanted to retain the distinct colour because of its use historically on Lothian Buses vehicles.

The branding process for the trams has cost about £80,000.

Each 45m-long tram will be “dressed” with the new logos and colour scheme at a cost of £2554 for each vehicle ahead of the line’s operational launch by May next year.

Some new vehicles in the Lothian Buses fleet will display the branding from next month, but logos will only be added to others as they are replaced in efforts to save cash

A friend asked me to make a bigger version of the catwave wallpaper for his huge shiny screen so i obliged. More cats = more wave. Grab it while its hot.

This old notepad surfaced today. This list of numbers is something to do with the final year project of my zoology degree. I forget exactly what. It ends quite suddenly.

The rest of the book has all sorts of notes from lectures, the working out for a computer model of a worm experiment (that one where I deleted time), card game scores and all the shopping lists I made to get ready for the birth of my first child.

I need a new list book.

MacSimski spent some quality time with his Friden Flexowriter President, it needed a thorough cleaning and revisioning job with nebol and a lot of brushes.

At school, Harrison is getting ready to celebrate the 100th day of school with a collection of 100 things. His collection is of 100 propeller beads in four groups of 25 beads (The clear beads are a little difficult to see). He was excited to get to use the hot glue gun for his project.

Hannah's science class is studying the solar system and her project (besides a written report) is a model of her chosen planet, Neptune. We got the traditional Styrofoam sphere from Hobby Lobby, but instead of painting it, we decided to use watered-down school glue on colored tissue paper. It gives the planet model interesting coloration and texture. We're letting it dry to see if any touch-up work is necessary and we need to work on the cross-section showing the inner make-up of the planet, but it is coming along nicely.
