After almost two years, I finally developed the waterproof camera that I had gotten for when Dawna and I went to take surfing lessons at White Point Beach Resort outside of Halifax. The water was very very cold, but it was fun!

Me, ready to try to catch a wave.

In the UK this is an immigrant and recent colonist. It is regularly caught in moth traps when wind conditions from the continent are suitable. It is also believed to now be resident in south coast counties. In France it is a widespread species across the country. Larvae feed on various grasses. I trapped this species throughout my stay at La Grave, Dordogne, in June 2012. Many of the moths were quite worn.

My Garden, Cambs - Aug 2017

One from last week on the 25th August and the number are slightly up overall with 90 moths for 29 species, a good selection of the late summer species including one new one for the garden with a couple of White Point moths. A little surprised it has taken so long for this species to turn up, seems fairly common being recorded quite regularly elsewhere locally. Still getting the odd single Buff Ermine.

Okay ... I know it looks incriminating, but it's all innocent. Really.

Jennie graciously accepted the challenge of looking for geocaches in Charleston, so we went to White Point Garden. So the cache is hidden somewhere near the cannons, but I needed cover from the geomuggles. Dave and Merlin happily obliged, but Dave had a rough night the night before and couldn't stay up, especially with the wind.
