Taken on the world famous North Shore of Oahu.

Emitting faint whisps of that ALCo trademark smoke, #800 burbles south.

But I was late getting up so missed the real golden moment. This was the last few whisps of mist.

SAT 28th MARCH.

Lovely sunny but some what cold day. Spent the afternoon chilling out before grabbing late lunch at Maggie Mays then heading home for couple of hours kip before heading to the Empire to see Guns 'n' Roses tribute band. Really good night, great company and atmosphere - laughs and silly dancing a plenty :)

A faint whisp of smoke from the left hand chimney shows the first failed attempt at 4pm, followed by another at 5pm. It finally dropped at 7pm too dark for photography.

Too green... I really need to calibrate the colors on my laptop when it's running Windows... Or just get a version of photomatix that will run in OS X.

I think I need to do a composite with the HDR'd trees and the original Baker.

Photo of the Matadero, in Madrid (Spain) at night. Shooted with a Sony Xperia S, and edited and adjusted in PS6.

Photographing smoke art is one of the most rewarding aspects of home photography. We've all seen the wispy strands that float and glide through the air, but it's not until these trails are frozen in time do we see the true beauty and elegance of their construction.

In many images it's possible to see a subject within the smoke.

The advantage of smoke art photography is that - compared to water droplets - the patterns take longer to form so it's easier to judge when to take the shot. It's when the scene is viewed on the screen that the true diversity and uniqueness of the patterns is realised.

This was processed in Photoshop to highlight the patterns that exist within the formations.

A gasp the wicked whisp slave presents his meagre offering.

Some whisps at the local park

Taken into a low sun across a pebble bed stream feeding into Loch Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, Scotland. No processing, this is how it looked RAW out of my Canon 70D. Love the natural lens flares.

The smoke was created by burning an incense stick and the light was a flashgun behind and below at an angle of 45° upwards. The result was processed in Photoshop.
