A curved whisp of cloud, slightly pink from the setting sun, looks like the tail of a comet positioned against the moon. And, in the top left corner, Jupiter is watching.

Photographing smoke art is one of the most rewarding aspects of home photography. We've all seen the wispy strands that float and glide through the air, but it's not until these trails are frozen in time do we see the true beauty and elegance of their construction.
In many images it's possible to see a subject within the smoke.
The advantage of smoke art photography is that - compared to water droplets - the patterns take longer to form so it's easier to judge when to take the shot. It's when the scene is viewed on the screen that the true diversity and uniqueness of the patterns is realised.
This was processed in Photoshop to highlight the patterns that exist within the formations.
A faint whisp of smoke from the left hand chimmney shows the first failed attempt at 4pm, followed by another at 5pm. It finally dropped at 7pm too dark for photography. HW ©

A local hospital, St. John's, has this tall stack.
I thought of taking another steam rising picture, and spied this after work tonight.
Six photos, Photomatix Pro and a bunch of post processing - still not happy with it, but I called it quits and here it is. I may go back later to work on it some more. Digital helps.
St. John's Hospital is a house of healing. My dad was an Obstetrician-Gynecologist here. He delivered over 10,000 newborns in his practice, most of them here. I've grown up and older with St. John's playing many roles in my life. From birth, tonsillectomy, working there around High School, our son was born there, my bride, Karen worked there Summers when she was a Elementary teacher, to my arm surgery of last year. My Karen Sue does her part to keep the flow of healing in her job there.
Healing is a miracle often aided by others ministering to our wounds. I hope you experience the loving touch of healing in your life.
All the "good" shots were of the white roses, and that's boring... I like color, so I just played around with a color shift on this one. Yes? No?
I only have my star/space themed MH dolls on display right now and wanted to be a little ironic about it ;)
