Theme: From where I am

Category: Creative

I have the house to myself for the first time in a very long time. My wife, first born, and our exchange student are all in N.Y. city on a school trip. The youngest is off to the lake with his girlfriends family. As I was pondering this week's topic, puttering in the garden, some friends popped around for a garden tour. As always, wee Flea was shadowing my every move. That's when it hit me. Week 21 accomplished. Now I am just two themes behind...

I am also adding this to ODC - Picture that tells a story. I've had dogs in my life since I was born. This little one is turning out to be the smartest and most important one I have ever had and I think the feeling is mutual.

52 weeks of 2018 - where I stand

Have got the problem of commenting and faving back again. :-(

bummer. didn't find the rocky horror picture show scene on youtube, when brad and janet find "the frankenstein place" in loads of rain to ask for help with their broken car, and riff raff opens the door, stating "you're wet" without a hint of asking them to come in.

I love New Year! Time for new beginnings and Fresh Starts! Perfect time to re-challenge myself to my 100x project.

100 "at my feet" shots. I started this in 2016 and did not get to 100. I love the collection though and think they look great collaged together. This year I will complete the collection!

My Burning Bush is finally turning red since the leaves fell off the trees.

Last Wednesday I was at a retrospective of the Dutch photographer Hans Eijkelboom in the Photo Museum of The Hague. This photographer 'collects' people. He photographs them in crowded city centres and groups the individuals by what they wear. In this way he wants to show us that people might not be so unique after all. Quite funny to see all the series. If you zoom in on the photos on the wall, you get an idea of how it looks, but there were many more on the museum walls.

52 weeks of 2018 - Week 01: Where I Stand

Part of the 52 Weeks of 2018

Week: 1

Theme: Where I stand

A "standing selfie" seems quite a trend at the moment, but as a starting image for the year, I thought I'd try to come up with something with some sort of meaning to it. Every photo tells a story as they say.

This represents the daily grind, hours of commuting every week. But this also represents some aims for the year. I'm hoping to spend less time commuting this year and to visit/photograph new places. All journeys have to start somewhere.

I also happen to like the lines/layers of colour and texture going down the image. And yes the black line at the top is intentional, that's the edge of the station platform.

I have attempted to get a good sunrise picture at this spot many times now and have yet to be successful. I decided to post this image as a reminder that you frequently don't get the image you want on the first try. More often than not, you have to keep trying and eventually mother nature will behave and give you the conditions and light that you are after. I will get a good sunrise image from this spot one day, but this was not that day.

For those that are interested, this was taken at Diamond Point in the New River Area of West Virginia.

Too cold to attend any outdoor events. We are ringing in the New Year at home. Happy New's Eve, everyone

I noticed these crazy clouds late this afternoon.

Cos'è questo rumore?

Took Boner and the Mrs out to play in the leaves this morning since it has finally stopped raining.

I went for a walk down to the street and snapped this photo of the clouds catching the Sunset.

100 steps off my back deck is my little garlic patch. Today, at 7 am, before it got too hot and too smokey (thank you Canadian wildfires) I harvested my hard neck garlic. The other type will be dug up later in the fall.

Barefoot and busy in my studio, balancing between fabric and paint...first one then the other as one dries. Acrylic, gouache, ink, and stitching. #365 day225 #whereistand#daisyyellowart

CY365 (8/365) "Where I Stand" -

Snow has just begun here in Upstate NY, and we will likely be buried in it until the end of March. It's pretty now...

Standing on the back deck with Katie, contemplating the gigantic glacier of icy, wet snow that slid off our steel roof. It was so loud, I thought the world was ending the other morning when this all came down.

Looks like it's time to stop shoveling and have lunch!

Where I Stand. Winter...64 degrees...rain...no snow...looking out the screen door smelling the fresh air! Doesn't get better than this four days before Christmas!

week1 - Where I stand, too late for competition entry but happy I did it

The viewfinder of this Seagull 120mm camera is perfection.

After a long rainy drive from Portland to Seattle, we stopped in Pioneer Square in old Seattle to visit Drygoods Designs. This is standing on the pavement outside the shop. Happy Halloween everyone! #ourwisproject #whereistand #seattle #pioneersquare

As soon as you finish a project another gets thrown at you.

This is where I stand, going from project to project.

I joined another new group, 52 Weeks of 2018. First assignment is "Where I Stand". Typically I stand away from the water of this lake, mostly checking for birds or other critters, or unsuspecting fishermen or people walking their dogs. I spend a lot of time at this local large man-made lake and recreation area.

Today I stood with 15 little five-year old leprechauns! Such a fun day!

Drinking my morning coffee and relaxing on our new bar stools.

Week #1 ~ Where I Stand

I find it amazing that two adults and one fat cat can generate so much laundry! At 1 o'clock I was standing at the dryer removing the last of today's laundry.

Where I stand today....outside See's Candies with sweets to sweeten the New Year's festivities of Jessica Jones and prosecco. Happy and safe New Year's everyone!

Where I Stand -- is very very cold! First snowfall of the year. After standing here for the approximately 15sec it took to grab a couple shots, I guess I can get too mad about my dog not wanting to go out in the snow :) My toes are still tingling!

"None of us is getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Eat the delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth you are carrying in your heart like the hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There's no time for anything else." - Angelina Jolie

Temps started out at 5 below zero this morning, so no snow was melting.

Stepping into the Pool...

The only thing gratifying about last night's snow, is that we didn't get as much as they predicted and it's warm enough I didn't need gloves to shovel it!
