SSC - Wheels

Funny how what sounds like an easy challenge ends up being anything but! Went into a cycle shop and took a lot rather unsatisfactory shots of cycle wheels, luckily as I was leaving I noticed a display of colourful skateboards.

Nostalgia

We're here visiting Stuff on Wheels

Well this winter is not so good only 2 days we had sunny and bright , 1 was on 29-th of dcember and 2-d was on 16-th of january

Spare carriage wheel sets in the yard at Rothley on the Great Central Railway, 17th April 2016.

My mother (98) is using her last wheels, my granddaughter Lotte (7) just started. Where would we be without wheels ??

When I spotted these spinning wheels, I pretended I was in Tibet. I decided to get a close up shot of them with a thin depth of field. I happened to have a 35mm Cron with me, so it was good. To be honest, I didn't know where I should place my focus point. I decided to aim a bit further on the first wheel so that the whole wheel was not totally blurred out. Shooting with a rangefinder did force me to think rather than to point and shoot.

It's hard to believe that someone could drive unscathed through that lot! Bottom right hand corner you can just see the madman who did.

This is a 2017 Chevy Sonic. I'd never even heard of this car, but it seems to have really good reviews. The price was right and there are some cool gadgets to make road tripping a lot easier. Not used to having such a small gas tank though. It seems like I'm always buying gas.

A quick project - Corgi 383 - Volkswagen 1200 Beetle (1970-76)

This one has had broken rear suspension for a very long time.

Because the rear suspension had been broken for so long it hasn't settled under the weight of the car but the front has been gradually bending over the years so it sits lower. The original "Whizzwheels" have been replaced with the deep dish wheels - small on the front and large on the rear - from the scrap GP Beach Buggy. (I had to make spacers out of cable insulation to fit behind them to push them out to the ends of the VW axles.)

I've touched in some of the larger paint chips on the body and bumpers but left it slightly distressed and also used a bit of dark furniture wax to deepen the shadow areas.

Colleagues watched at me as I was a foolish man, but what can I say? I live photography completely, every minute of the day.

Wheels of time keep turning.

"Look at our small town spinning around

We've got our feet dangling high off the ground"

To be stuck at the top of a Ferris Wheel would be perfection.

Everything is changing and moving so quickly now.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up and hopefully I won't take anything I've been blessed with for granted.

Well this will close out my visit to the Museum. I really had fun with this one. For the first time I developed every one of my shots of a photo shoot. I only used my Sony 90mm 2.8 Macro - a really sharp lens mounted on my tripod. Forced me to use my feet to zoom. Some were true macro and some were not. I only did 2 exposures of every shot, usually do 10 or more. I found it forced me to be more mindful of composition and exposure. Hope all enjoyed. Now back to developing shots from my Pacific Coast Highway trip this summer.

Maybe I will go back and shoot with my 50mm macro or my 28mm?
