Heading back to port after a successful whale watch

We couldn't get very close to the whales, but with his binocular vision, Waoki said it was a fine view! The naturalists on the boat told us it they hadn't seen a day this active with the humpback whale pods yet this year. What a perfect day!

Also known as whale watch park, it is a protected national park and the only official place to see killer whales from shore in the country.

It had taken two breaths already, and prepared for a long dive.

I didn't actually get to see the whales. My dad took all of these pictures. He saw the whales, I was inside the boat puking my guts out. You can see why in some of the pictures with tilted horizons. What I wouldn't give to have his non-motion-sickness genes!

 

Dad did take some awesome whale pictures, though! I wish I had actually seen the whales...
